AFL round 12 odds 2021 - covid fixture update

Welcome to our free Collingwood v St Kilda betting tips for Saturday’s twilight AFL game from the MCG.

The Magpies have swung several changes to the team that drew with premiership favourites Richmond at the MCG last Thursday night, with midfielder Rupert Wills and speedster Jaidyn Stephenson replacing dropped pair Josh Thomas and Jack Madgen.

The Saints, in a buoyant mood after dismantling the Western Bulldogs, will be without workmanlike Jarryn Geary, who will miss the clash with hamstring tightness, but they have included ex-Magpie Jonathon Marsh. Luckless skipper Geary missed much of last year with a serious wound on his leg.

Despite the Saints’ hot form, the Magpies have been installed $1.39 favourites to defeat the Saints ($3), who are hunting for their first finals appearance since 2011.

The Magpies have won their past two games against the Saints, but this is a new-look St Kilda outfit, after some huge off-season signings including Bradley Hill and Zac Jones, plus the re-emergence of Dan Hannebery as a top-flight midfielder.

The Pies will be sweating on the fitness of superstar ruckman Brodie Grundy, although his absence would not hurt as much as in previous years, with Swans recruit Darcy Cameron also in the line-up. As AFL fans we are hoping Grundy plays to see how talented Saints big man Rowan Marshall fares against him.

The Saints are shaping as a feelgood story in 2020 under new coach Brett Ratten, who has definitely made a quick mark on his team’s style, after coming from the Alastair Clarkson school of coaching.

Collingwood v St Kilda betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds for some value and found several quality Collingwood v St Kilda tips ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game.

Jaidyn Stephenson to score two or more goals

Magpies star youngster Jaidyn Stephson has been left out of their team for the opening two rounds of the AFL season, and we think the explosive runner is primed for a big showing here. Stephenson is paying $3.50 to kick two or more with most AFL betting sites.

Zac Jones to get over 25 touches at $2.70

Saints recruit Zac Jones was magnificent against the Western Bulldogs with 29 touches and he is offering good value to notch up over 25 here. The Magpies rarely tag through the midfield and will back in their men head to head, which means Jones is likely to get plenty of the ball, with his sometimes iffy disposal also likely to mean the Pies leave him alone.

Collingwood v St Kilda prediction 20/6/2020

In what is looming as a danger game for Collingwood we think it’s closer to a 50-50 contest, rather than the Magpies being a $1.39 favourite. Couple that with a potentially ginger Grundy and we have a game on our hands. Betting on the Saints +15.5 is not the worst bet. Our final Collingwood v St Kilda prediction? Magpies by by 11 points.
