Greyville racing tips

Our Hollywoodbets Greyville tips, form and preview focus on a competitive eight-race Friday night programme headed by the KRA Cup (Listed), where Mike and Mathew de Kock’s progressive filly Drumnadrochit looks capable of returning to winning ways back over a more suitable trip.

The Korean Racing Association has enjoyed a long association with racing in KwaZulu-Natal and the KRA Cup (Listed) remains one of the province’s most recognisable feature races. Formerly run as the Off To Stud Stakes, this year’s 1600m contest has attracted a deep field and shapes as the highlight of an entertaining evening at Greyville.

Drumnadrochit earned a sharp rise in the ratings after tackling elite company earlier this season, including the Gauteng Fillies Guineas Grade 2 and South African Oaks Grade 2. Back against her own sex over a mile, the daughter of Rafeef looks well placed to show why her connections have always held her in such high regard. That’s My Baby brings strong recent course form into the race, while Miss Twinkle and Cape visitor Swiatek also have genuine claims.

The final race could provide one of the better betting opportunities on the card, with Steam Windows expected to relish the step back up in distance after contesting stronger races. First-time blinkers add further appeal, although Next of Kin, Blue Steel and Tam’s knight all look capable of making life difficult in a competitive closer.

Below is our free form analysis and racing tips for all eight races at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday.

Race 1

Gallop Tv Open Mdn

YEAH BABY (4) can make a winning start to the meeting despite taking on the males. The filly has produced two encouraging efforts on the polytrack, has drawn well and should appreciate stepping up in trip. CUBA LIBRE (7) resumes as a four-year-old after a fair debut on soft ground and looks open to plenty of improvement. BIG DIPPER (14) debuts from a wide gate but is one to watch closely in the betting. SKIPPER ZIP (5), which has been backed into favourite with South African bettings sites, has improved noticeably since the blinkers went on and should again be competitive.

Our tip: 4-7-14-5

Race 2

Bet With Tote Www.tote.co.za Mdn Plate (F & M)

HAZEL GREEN (3) has been expensive to follow but showed enough improvement at her second KwaZulu-Natal start to suggest she can finally break through. EASTERN GLOW (7) steps up in trip after catching the eye over a shorter journey on the poly and rates as the danger. TEARS OF THE SUN (1) has the inside draw and consistent form on her side, while QUEEN OF DENMARK (8) improved nicely at her second outing and is another capable of featuring.

Our tip: 3-7-1-8

Race 3

Race Coast Welcomes The Korea Racing Authority

NOCTAMBULIST (6) relished the longer trip when runner-up at big odds in an Open Maiden last time and looks well placed to go one better in this modest contest. CRIMSON TYPHOON (3) takes on the males but has improved considerably at her past two starts and commands respect. FIRE FORCE (7) has been knocking on the door and should again be in the finish.

Our tip: 6-3-7

Race 4

Live It. Love It. Own It. Www.racecoast.co.za Class 4

TUNGUSKA (13) brings consistent Cape Town form and may have needed his first local outing. ZENA ROSE (12) has drawn awkwardly but arrives in excellent form under Keagan de Melo. SHINY BOB (8) continues to improve and gets in with just 50kg despite rising in grade, while DAY TWO (11) has been in terrific form and can overcome the revised weights.

Our tip: 13-12-8-11

Race 5

Knicks Go Cup

FUTURE VARIETY (9) has been contesting much stronger races and drops into a suitable assignment despite carrying top weight from a wide draw. POSITION OF POWER (2) is in outstanding form, with Keagan de Melo aboard for his past three wins, and the form around him has worked out well. TEFLON MAN (8) had excuses after a difficult run from a wide gate last start and should improve, while THISISWHATITMEANS (3) is better known on the poly but is capable on his best form.

Our tip: 9-2-8-3

Race 6

Kra Cup (Listed) (Off To Stud Stakes – 4 Yrs & Older F & M)

DRUMNADROCHIT (2) looks capable of bouncing back now that she returns to a more suitable distance after tackling Grade 2 company earlier this year. THAT’S MY BABY (8) has produced two excellent recent runs on this track and rates as the main danger. MISS TWINKLE (1) has been competitive since returning from a break and gets the inside draw, while SWIATEK (11) makes her KwaZulu-Natal debut for Justin Snaith and is worth following if supported in betting.

Our tip: 2-8-1-11

Race 7

Tote For The Win B Stakes

WHAT A FORTUNE (7) has been narrowly beaten as favourite at his past two starts and can make amends dropping in grade. MAPHAKA (2) is racing consistently over his preferred distance and has the draw to give another bold sight. FUTURE FLOW (10) rarely finishes far away and can overcome the wide gate with his weight relief, while CITY OF LOVE (9) returns to his favoured trip and is capable of sharp improvement.

Our tip: 7-2-10-9

Race 8

Hollywoodbets Bright Future Class 4

STEAMY WINDOWS (2) looks one of the better bets on the programme after racing over an unsuitable trip last time. Back over this distance with first-time blinkers applied, he gets every chance to return to winning form. NEXT OF KIN (4) is remarkably consistent and should again be thereabouts. BLUE STEEL (6) carries plenty of weight but has the class to feature on his best form, while TAM’S KNIGHT (1) is better treated at the weights and can also make his presence felt.

Our tip: 2-4-6-1
