Praise De La Rey looks well placed with a light weight in Race 5, while Deonaire, Navajo Dancer and Red Hot Miss are among the better winning chances on a tricky programme.
Below is our free form analysis and racing tips for all eight races at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday.
Race 1
Lucky Fish Lucky Break Mdn Plate
MIDNIGHT HOUR (4) has useful form on the poly and, although returning from a short break, looks capable of winning a race of this nature. DEMBELE (9) has a tricky draw but showed promise on debut when attracting market support, and the form from that race has worked out well. He could feature at decent odds. TASK FORCE (7) was close-up on the poly last time and gets some assistance from a useful claimer. GALLIC KING (1) has his second run for Mike and Mathew de Kock after starting favourite at his last two outings. The switch to the poly could bring out the best in him.
Our tip: 4-9-7-1
Race 2
Live It. Love It. Own It. Www.racecoast.co.za D Stakes
A wide-open contest. HAMMER BLOW (7) was narrowly beaten at his first start on the poly and has been consistent. He drops in class and a 4kg claim helps offset his big weight. Veteran PROPHET (4) showed significant improvement at his first start for his new stable after modest Highveld form, suggesting the change of scenery has done the trick. TRAFALGAR SQUARE (9) finished just ahead of PROPHET when they last met and there should again be little between them. CARTEL QUEEN (2) takes on the males at her first start out of the maidens, but her maiden form has been franked and she could improve further.
Our tip: 7-4-9-2
Race 3
Tote For The Win Mdn Plate
DEONARIE (6) has placed in all five starts and looks one of the better bets on the card. He makes his poly debut but gets De Melo aboard and rates the one to beat. CAPTAIN JOSH (10) has a difficult draw but has not been far away in recent turf starts and gets first-time cheekpieces. ETZEBETH (11) has been disappointing but was not far back at his first poly start for his new stable and can improve. MASTERCRAFTER (7) attracted market support on his first outing on the poly and now gets a tongue-tie, which could bring further improvement. NOCTAMBULIST (4) makes his poly debut and has shown fair form over further, so any market support should be noted.
Our tip: 6-10-11-7
Race 4
Lucky Fish Book Of Poseidon Open Mdn
A competitive Open Maiden. CLOSE ENCOUNTER (1) has had one outing for his new stable and now makes his poly debut. He remains lightly raced and could have plenty of improvement to come. AFTER THE FIRE (2) has been consistent in blinkers, stays the trip and gets in with a handy weight. CRIMSON TYPHOON (3) disappointed last time but had steady form before that and goes well on the poly. The 4kg claim should help her cause. CALI BULLET (10) has improved since switching to the poly and carries a light weight that gives her a genuine winning chance.
Our tip: 1-2-3-10
Race 5
Bet With Tote Www.tote.co.za Apprentice C Stakes
A super-competitive handicap with upset potential. PRAISE DE LA REY (5) has been in good form of late and her last victory came over this course and distance. She steps up in class but has only 49kg to carry and can lead the charge and is still offering some value at 3.70 with South African betting sites. PIED PIPER (6) returns to what could prove a more suitable surface and the step up in trip may suit. VENCEDOR (9) won comfortably on the poly last time and received a six-pound rise in the handicap, but he has come good of late and that may not be enough to stop him. SPLASH OF LOVE (10) won well over course and distance last time and gets the most experienced apprentice in the race aboard.
Our tip: 5-6-9-10
Race 6
In The Box Seat Podcast Brought To You By Gallop Tv Class 4 (F & M)
AMC ROY’S FANTASY (5) returns from a break after contesting strong feature company at her last two starts. Tristan Godden retains the ride and, if fit and ready, Kom Naidoo’s filly could be the one to beat. SILVER SALUTE (10) has the worst of the draw but finished close-up over course and distance last time and is now 1.5kg better off with VIXENS WAR (7), who won that race. There should be little between the pair. TAYLOR’S VERSION (8) won at her first start on the poly and the extra furlong should suit.
Our tip: 5-10-7-8
Race 7
Join The Fun Www.socialsquad.co.za Apprentice D Stakes
NAVAJO DANCER (4) won well on the poly last time and, although receiving a four-pound penalty, gets the equivalent relief from the saddle and can follow up. Top weight VAANS SPIRIT (8) drops in class and trip, goes well on the poly and has a useful claimer aboard. KALI BWANA (3) is 2.5kg better off with NAVAJO DANCER from their last meeting and should make it close again. PLEASEDTOSEEYOU (2) received only a three-pound penalty for his latest course-and-distance victory and can again be competitive.
Our tip: 4-8-3-2
Race 8
Hollywoodbets Bright Future Class 5 (F & M)
RED HOT MISS (9) returns from a break after taking on a strong feature field at her first start out of the maidens. She has performed well on the poly and, if fit and ready, could prove too good for this field. OCOTILLO (7) was narrowly beaten over course and distance last time and has been making steady improvement, making her the obvious danger. ROY’S GRACE (8) got up narrowly in first-time blinkers and received only a three-point penalty for that victory. CHASING GOLD (12) is seldom far away and, although returning from a break and dropping in trip, cannot be written off.
