GWS v Carlton betting tips, prediction and odds; AFL round 15 preview

Welcome to our GWS v Carlton betting tips, prediction and odds update ahead of their AFL round 15 clash at Metricon Stadium on Thursday night.

Both clubs have plenty to play for, with the Blues’ faint hopes of a finals berth resting on winning this clash, and GWS needing to maintain the rage to gain their own top-eight position.

AFL betting sites believe the Giants will win this clash, pricing them at $1.50 to defeat Carlton ($2.60) in the second of two Thursday AFL games.

GWS are coming off a confidence-boosting 38-point win over Fremantle on Saturday, in a game when their much-vaunted attack looked to finally click.

The Blues were dismantled in the second-half in their most recent outing on Sunday, a 33-point loss to arch rival Collingwood, with the Magpies ruthlessly exposing their midfield.

The Blues are breathing a sigh of relief with captain Patrick Cripps cleared of any structural damage to his knee, but he remains in some doubt. Young defender Jacob Weitering is also in doubt with a calf injury.

The Giants have some renewed injury concerns with Josh Kelly suffering a gruesome friendly-fire injury; he was lucky to escape with concussion. Defender Phil Davis and Callan Ward are also both ruled out of the clash.

GWS v Carlton tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value GWS v Carlton tips for Thursday’s game.

Carlton +11.5 at $1.90

Carlton when challenged this year have generally responded and they would be disappointed with their second half against the Magpies. Their opponents looked to be running into some form last round, but overall their form line is not much better than the Blues. The Blues +11.5 in line betting is paying $1.90 with Unibet and looks to be decent value given their season is on the line and the Giants will be missing several key players.

Take the unders in over/under match points betting

The GWS v Carlton over/under betting market at Unibet has been set at 123.5. We expect this game to be ferocious and low-scoring, with the Giants just winning. This market is paying $1.90 for unders at Unibet.

Toby Greene to kick 3+ goals

He owes us, Greene, and we’re willing to stick with him here, because he has runs on the board and a player this good will be among the goals sooner rather than later. Hope for a bit of wet weather ahead of this one, because he loves a scrap and can become a focal point when scoring is hard.

GWS Giants v Carlton Blues prediction 3/9/2020

The GWS v Carlton betting is heavily in favour of the Giants at this point, but we expect the Blues to come out fired up and push their opponent all the way. Even without Josh Kelly, the Giants midfield looks to shade the Blues, especially with alarm bells ringing over Cripps’ fitness. Expect big showings from old timers like Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson who would do anything to play in another final before their careers finish. Our final GWS v Carlton prediction? Giants by 3 points.
