Heat v Hurricanes betting tips, prediction & odds; BBL Match 16 Preview

Scorchers v Renegades BBL10

Welcome to our Brisbane Heat v Hobart Hurricanes betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for Game 16 of the 2020-21 Big Bash League at the Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday, December 27.

On paper this looks like being a one-sided affair and the addition of the world’s No.1-ranked T20 batsman Dawid Malan to the Hurricanes has made the Heat’s hope even more forlorn.

Hobart Hurricanes are riding high at the top of the table with three wins from four matches and some of the hottest players in BBL10 in power-hitting batsmen Ben McDermott and Colin Ingram and veteran paceman James Faulkner.

They can now also add Malan to join the team after his quarantine period. Check the teams in the lead-up to the match as they are not finalised until the toss. Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is another due to be available soon after Christmas.

The Hurricanes, of course, have been playing in the Tasmanian bubble so now must bring their show on the road.

They face the Heat, who are winless after three matches and without BBL legend Chris Lynn for at least the next couple of weeks after he suffered a hamstring strain in the warm-up for their most recent match, a narrow loss to Adelaide Strikers.

The Heat came close to their first win thanks to a wonderful knock from stand-in captain Jimmy Peirson, but that can’t disguise the poor form of the Heat top order. If they fail again it’s hard to see the Brisbane team notching a first win for the season in this clash.

If the Heat can’t turn things around in this match, it’s hard to see them having any chance of featuring in the finals in a month or so.

Heat v Hurricanes betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Heat v Hurricanes tips for Sunday’s BBL clash.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman top wicket-taker for Heat

The young spinner is a rising star and should be much better for a hit-out or two after recovering from Covid-19. Most of the Hurricanes batsmen are comfortable against pace but can struggle at times against good spin bowling and Mujeeb Ur Rahman offers a real point of difference to a workmanlike attack.

Tom Cooper top run-scorer for the Heat

Cooper is a vastly experienced cricketer and he looks in marginally better form than the others in the top order, who really need to start swinging with a bit of confidence. Cooper may not need too many runs to be top-scorer and the $6 looks value with Unibet.

Heat v Hurricanes prediction 27/12/2020

Funny things happen in T20 cricket but it’s hard to see the Heat winning this one against arguably the best batting side in the BBL. The Hurricanes were already flying and they have added the brutal Malan to the mix. An impressive display here will likely take them to the top of overall betting to win their maiden BBL title. Our final Heat v Hurricanes prediction: A big win for the Hurricanes.
