India v Australia 1st ODI cricket betting tips, odds update 2020

Australia v India T20 game one.

India host Australia on Tuesday, January 14, and here is the WGL’s preview and betting predictions for the match in Mumbai.
The ODI at Wankhede Stadium is the first match in a rapid-fire three match series between two heavyweights of world cricket.
Bookmakers have made India firm favourites to win the opening match and also the series, but it should not be forgotten that Australia started a winning streak in a one-day series in India last year. The Australians came from 2-0 to win the series 3-2 and they carried that good form into the 2019 ICC World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions England in a semi-final.
India went into the ODI world cup as favourites but also fell in the semi-finals, to New Zealand, in a result that stung the cricket-mad nation.
The last meeting between India and Australia was in the group stages of the World Cup where India prevailed by 36 runs at The Oval.
Australia have not played a one-day international match since that tournament in England, so may be a little rusty in this form of the game, though they have named a powerful squad and included their much vaunted pace trio of Mitch Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. If they play it will be their first ODI together since November 2018.
India have won series away and home against the West Indies since the Cricket World Cup and also have named closed to their best squad for this series between the teams ranked second (India) and fourth (Australia) in the ICC ODI calculations.
Australia are expected to send Steve Smith in at No.3, with Usman Khawaja not selected, with newcomer and Test sensation Marnus Labuschagne batting at No.4.

India v Australia best bets

Our cricket tipsters have been in fine form in recent weeks, especially in the South Africa-England Test series, so now we turn our attention to finding some value bets in the India-Australia series being played over the next week.

India to win at $1.62

The Indians are much more in the groove for 50-over cricket, with Australia coming off Test series wins against Pakistan and New Zealand. They could well catch the tourists a little cold in this one.

Rohit Sharma top run-scorer for India at $4

India boast the No.1 and No.2 batsmen in the ICC ODI rankings in the Virat Kohli and Sharma. While much of the kudos goes to captain Kohli, Sharma is an equally dangerous player. India are blessed to also have the No.1 bowler in this form of the game in Jasprit Bumrah so if you are feeling adventurous you could double this great paceman with Sharma. Going fresh into this match it may pay to stick with the players of the highest calibre.

India v Australia predictions

Australia have named their best possible squad here, but they also must adjust quickly from the bouncy pitches of home to the wickets of India. They have enough experienced players to make a good fist of it, but they will certainly be better after at least one outing of this series. For that reason we lean towards India to win the opener in Mumbai. Good punting.
