Ireland v Samoa betting tips, odds, predictions – RWC 2019 Match 36

Ireland Rugby World CUp betting preview and tips

Welcome to our free predictions and odds update for match 36 of the Rugby World Cup between Ireland v Samoa at Fukuoka Hakatanomori Stadium on Saturday, October 12.

This match is the only Rugby World Cup played on the day after the New Zealand-Italy and England-France clashes were cancelled due to Typhoon Hagibis, which is expected to bring destructive winds, rain and storm surges to Japan.

Other Sunday matches are also at risk of cancellation, including the much anticipated clash between Japan and Scotland to decide who reaches the quarter-finals. If it is cancelled, Japan will go through along with Ireland, provided they win this clash against Samoa as expected.
Samoa cannot qualify but are sure to provide a stern test for the Irish, already the victims of a major shock loss against Japan.

Check out our team previews to get the latest form, our tips for leading try-scorer from each team and where we think they will finish in the tournament.

Ireland v Samoa tips RWC2019

Samoa +28.5 points at $1.91

The Pacific Island team has nothing to lose here and Ireland have not been impressive since their opening win against Scotland. Fukuoka is a long way from the expected trajectory of the typhoon so the weather forecast is overcast and warm. This should suit the running rugby of the Samoans.

Under 49.5 points match total at $2.05

Different sportsbooks might offer different lines and prices, but if you shop around with our preferred international bookies you should be able to secure something similar. We just feel it will be a tight affair, with a lot on the line for Ireland.

Ireland v Samoa prediction

The teams have played six times previously with five wins for Ireland and a memorable 40-25 win for Samoa in Dublin in 1996. Ireland are a lot better side these days and we expect them to be able to hold the Samoan attack comfortably. But they have not been fluent in their own attacking so we can’t see them racking up a huge score. They will want to find their best form pretty quickly as they will be up against New Zealand or South Africa in the quarter-finals, provided they win this match of course.
