Kenilworth racing preview, form and tips
Our Hollywoodbets Kenilworth tips, form and preview focus on a competitive eight-race programme on Wednesday, August 5, with owner Denis Le Breton and trainer Des McLachlan set to dominate the meeting by combining for an extraordinary 15 runners.
Le Breton’s Monden International operation continues to go from strength to strength. Stable star Jet Force recently advertised the yard’s quality by winning the Post Merchants Grade 3 before chasing home Buffalo Storm Cody in the Mercury Sprint Grade 1, while Wednesday’s meeting provides another opportunity for the stable’s emerging talent to shine.
Race 3 shapes as one of the better betting races on the card, with AFRICAN WILD DOG looking well placed to break through after two narrow defeats. The Justin Snaith-trained gelding has strong recent form that has already been franked and gets another chance to shed his maiden tag over a suitable 1400m.

The final race also promises to be a highlight, with LYRICAL GANGSTER bidding to confirm recent superiority over CORK BAY despite meeting that rival 2.5kg worse at the weights. The progressive LIKE DYNAMITE adds further intrigue after an impressive maiden victory, while CATWALK KING returns with the strongest official rating in the field.
Below is our free form analysis and racing tips for all eight races at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Race 1
Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Mdn Plate
EL COHETE (1) must have a big winning chance in this field and is priced accordingly with South African betting sites. She is very fast and consistent and, on her best form, will be hard to beat. RUST NEVER SLEEPS (6) ran a great race behind ANOTHER HERO on June 23 and looks to be improving with every run. Provided he has made further progress at home, he should go close. BOLERO (7) stayed on well for fourth on debut and should improve nicely going into his second start. Include him in all bets. WREATH OF SNOW (2) oozes class on pedigree and connections paid top dollar to secure this well-bred colt. The market could tell the story on debut, so watch him closely.
Our tip: 1-6-7-2
Race 2
Lucky Fish Book Of Poseidon Mdn Plate (F & M)
SABRE WING (2) finished like a train on debut when beaten just under four lengths by JULIET OF VERONA on July 18. With further improvement expected, she should go very close to winning. MIND OVER YOU (3) ran a fair race on debut behind WORLD OF SECRETS and should enjoy the step up to 1200m. Include her in all bets. ROCK THE ROAD (6) stayed on well for third behind SCANDALIZE on June 16 and the form of that race has worked out well. She should be right there at the finish. ROYAL EMULATION (11) jumped at big odds on debut and caught the eye when finishing fourth in the same race as SABRE WING. She could sneak into the places at a decent price.
Our tip: 2-3-6-11

AFRICAN WILD DOG (2) looks to be one of the better bets on the card after two excellent runs in succession. This appears to be the right race for him to exit the maiden ranks from a good draw. IT’SGOOD IT’SNICE (8) disappointed badly in the Langerman Gr 3 on June 27 but is much better than that performance. If he bounces back to his best form, he could be competitive. ZANFAN MORIS (3) was well beaten by SUPERHERO on June 23, but the drop in trip should help and he should be given every chance from a neat draw. BIG DEAL (7) gets blinkers fitted and rarely runs a bad race. Include him in all bets.
Our tip: 2-8-3-7
Race 4
Join The Race Coast Turf Club Mdn Plate (F & M)
ODDS AND EVENS (2) tried to lead throughout when beaten by SPANISH WORLD on July 7. She has a big winning chance here and, on her best form, will be hard to beat from a good draw. MACRO GRAVITY (11) showed good improvement when stepping up in trip last time, finishing third in the same race as ODDS AND EVENS. With some luck in running from a difficult draw, she should be competitive. BE RATIONAL (6) finished fifth in a decent race on June 16 and the form has worked out well. If she builds on that effort, she could sneak into the places at a decent price. MOONSHINE BAY (9) brings only fair form into the race, but with 2.5kg off her back through the apprentice claim, she could earn a place.
Our tip: 2-11-6-9
Race 5
Bet With Tote Www.tote.co.za Class 4 (F & M)
HAMPSTEAD HEATH (5) won a good race on June 21 and was given a five-point penalty. The step up in trip should not be a problem for this mare and she can run another big race. SUPREME FATE (7) changed stables on July 10 and was last seen winning well in the Eastern Cape on June 19. She should settle just off the speed before finishing strongly, so watch her closely. UNA THE UNICORN (10) flashed up late to finish fourth behind LADY VERITAS on July 18 and should be much fitter this time. Include her in all bets. DREAM SEARCHER (1) rarely runs a bad race and has a good place chance from the inside draw.
Our tip: 5-7-10-1
Race 6
Race Coast Incentives Powered By Hollywoodbets D Stakes
MASTER COINER (3) stayed on strongly for third behind GLENALMOND on July 14 and looks progressive. There should be no excuses from a good draw and he must be included in all bets. ETOILEFILLANTE (1) finished second in the same race and has now produced two excellent efforts in succession. He could prove difficult to peg back from the inside draw. PHANTOM MAN (10) rarely runs a bad race and should be on the speed early. On his best form, he has a good place chance. MIDWAY (2) has dropped even further in the ratings since his last run on July 7 and his chances must always be respected at this level.
Our tip: 3-1-10-2
Race 7
Lucky Fish Lightning Roulette Class 5
AVIGNON (6) could be the value play in this tricky race. He is a big-striding horse with plenty of early speed and, if the apprentice gets the fractions right, he can run a big race. SHIFTING PATH (5) stayed on well for third behind PEACE OF MIND on July 18 and has dropped to a winnable rating. With the right run, he should be competitive. PRINCE OF TIBET (7) is much better than his last run on July 7 and that performance is best ignored. Back up the straight at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, he could bounce back at a good price. VERCINGETORIX (4) returns from a 78-day break and, provided he does not need the run, could sneak into the places.
Our tip: 6-5-7-4
Race 8
Hollywoodbets Bright Future Class 4
CORK BAY (1), at a single figure with HollywoodBets (HollywoodBets review) stayed on well to finish second behind LYRICAL GANGSTER on July 18 and the yard thinks highly of this gelding. Top jockey Andrew Fortune takes the ride and he should go close on his best form. LYRICAL GANGSTER (4) won with absolute ease last time and was given three points for landing a strong race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Despite the rise in the weights, he should again be very competitive. LIKE DYNAMITE (3) could be anything after quickening away from his rivals to win impressively on June 23. He should improve further and looks a smart colt in the making. CATWALK KING (10) was well beaten in the Langerman Gr 3 on June 27 but is much better than that effort and should be finishing strongly.
Our tip: 1-4-3-10
