Scientific Games and Minnesota Lottery are partnering up

Scientific Games has secured a seven-year contract with the Minnesota Lottery to overhaul its core technology systems, replacing legacy infrastructure with a cloud-based platform designed to drive sales growth and improve security.

The agreement will see Scientific Games deploy its Momentum ecosystem across the lottery’s retail and digital networks, introducing a fully integrated suite of systems including central gaming operations, retail management tools and data analytics capabilities. The deal includes an option to extend for a further three years.

Minnesota Lottery Executive Director Adam Prock said partnering with the iGaming giant was easy after they realised their visions matched.

“We took an innovative approach to selecting technology that would pave the way to the future and responsibly grow our contributions to programs that positively impact the lives of Minnesotans,” he said.

“We were seeking modern technology and a solution focused on service and partnership. Scientific Games was aligned with our vision for growth.”

The upgrade is aimed at modernising Minnesota’s lottery operations, improving performance and enabling new distribution channels through technologies such as self-service machines and digital promotions.

The contract continues Scientific Games’ recent momentum in North America, with the company winning multiple system deals in the past 18 months.

“Scientific Games looks forward to serving the Minnesota Lottery with the highest standards of excellence and all the flexibility a cloud-based ecosystem has to offer,” President of Americas & Global Instant Products for Scientific Games John Schulz said.

“A systems conversion requires a strong partnership and months of cooperation and collaboration. We will work closely with the Minnesota Lottery’s team to deliver another successful go-live, moving the Lottery into a sustainable future.”

Minnesota Lottery officials said the move is intended to support long-term growth and increase contributions to state programs, which have generated more than $4 billion since 1990 across environmental, education and public services initiatives.
