Netherlands vs Japan prediction and best bets, Womens World Cup preview
The Netherlands are hot favourite to knock powerhouse Japan out of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the round-of-16 match at Roazhon Park in Rennes, France, on Tuesday.
The Dutch played in their first World Cup in 2015, but their top form in the group stages (they haven’t dropped a game) has put them firmly in contention to do better at the 2019 edition.
The Dutch finished top of Group E, which concluded with a 2-1 win over fifth-ranked Canada.
Guide: Best football betting sites
Japan on the other hand won the tournament in 2011, and finished runner-up in 2015, but have undergone a rebuild and have had a horror injury run in the last few years. They now have the youngest remaining squad in the tournament.
Japan has won five of the eight matches the two countries have played, including a 2-1 win at the last World Cup at the round-of-16 stage.
The Netherlands has been priced at 1.72 to win this match, while Japan are a juicy 5.00, with the draw paying 3.50.

Best bets: Netherlands vs Japan
Here are our best bets for the Netherlands-Japan game being played in France on Tuesday.
Vivianne Miedema to score anytime
We have simply loved Dutch striker Vivianne Miedema’s World Cup to date. The Netherlands ace has scored twice at the World Cup so far in 2019 and she is paying $2.0 to score anytime with WilliamHill.com. You can also get her to score the first goal at $4.0, which is just too good to pass up for the WGL tipsters.
Over/Under betting prediction
The over/under line has been set at 2.5 goals, which we think will be eclipsed in this one. An early goal and the floodgates will open because there is no tomorrow for the losing team. While the Netherlands have had little trouble scoring at this tournament, Japan have but they also know a thing or two about playing in the knockout stages.
Netherlands v Japan prediction
We are predicting the Netherlands to beat Japan 2-1 and reach their first FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-final. We just think, despite a stellar effort in the group stage, Japan won’t have the experience to compete with the Dutch, but be very, very wary of them in 2023.
