Craig Bellamy’s Storm are coming off narrow defeats at the hands of undefeated teams Parramattta and Penrith, while Brisbane racked up their first win for the season last round against the struggling Bulldogs.
The Storm are back at home after a tough run of away games, and they have won their past eight matches against the Broncos. And 18 of the past 20 clashes between the teams.
The Broncos’ most recent win in this match-up was in round 25, 2016, when they beat the Storm 26-16 at AAMI Park.
The earlier match on Good Friday is the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs ($9.50) against the South Sydney Rabbitohs ($1.06) from 4.05pm at Stadium Australia, with the $1.90 line set at 21.5 points.
Storm v Broncos team news for round 4
There is great news for the Broncos at the selection table this week, and it is one reason we think the Broncos might be able to push the Storm a little bit harder than the bookies believes.
Powerful props Payne Haas (suspension) and Matt Lodge (hamstring) are back, just in time to lock horns with Melbourne’s ace front-rowers Jesse Bromwich and Christian Welch.
They get another big bopper back in John Asiata (neck), which helps add some real size and punch to a pack that has been a little outgunned in some of the early matches. Tevita Pangai and Thomas Flegler move from the starting side to the bench, and both those players could have more impact being thrown into the match fresh.
Melbourne Storm regain flying fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen (neck), with his stand-in Nicho Hynes making way. The Storm could regain forwards Felise Kaufusi (suspension) and Dale Finucane (calf), and rising hooker Harry Grant (knee) for the round-five match against the Bulldogs.

Storm v Broncos free betting tips
Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Melbourne-Brisbane betting tips for Friday night’s game.
Broncos +20.5 points/match total over 42.5 at $4.60
Is it just us or do the Melbourne Storm seem eminently more beatable without a certain Cameron Smith wearing the No.9 jumper? Brandon Smith is a wonderful player in his own right and has let nobody down, but he is not Cameron, who can turn a game with a jink here and a delayed pass there. They are are still a formidable side and Papenhuyzen’s return is important, but we will back the Broncos to stick to the task and lose by less than the gaping 20.5-point start..
Anthony Milford anytime try-scorer at $4.75
The fleet-footed five-eighth has shown a couple of times this year he is close to his mercurial best. He has not crossed so far this season, but he he looks value at $4.75 to break through here. He should get more opportunities with the Broncos pack getting back to something approaching strong.
Melbourne Storm v Brisbane Broncos prediction 2-4-2021
The Good Friday matches are always great viewing after a long day at barbecues and the like. Both the matches this time are expect to be one-sided but we expect this one to be the close of the two. The Storm seldom lose three in a row; hell, they seldom lose two in a row. They will be pumped up to end the streak and they should be a little too good on their home deck. Our Storm v Broncos prediction: Storm to win by 8 points.
