NRL Monday: Wests Tigers v Eels betting tips, prediction & odds, round 4, 2021

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Read on for our Wests Tigers v Parramatta match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at the Olympic Stadium, Sydney, on Monday, April 5.

Wests Tigers face a tough task of carrying on their winning form when they come up against undefeated derby rivals Parramatta on Easter Monday.

The Tigers upstaged Newcastle last Sunday in Knights halfback Mitchell Pearce’s 300th NRL game, but they need to step up again to spoil another unbeaten side.

Parrramatta have so far this season outmuscled the Broncos, Storm and Sharks, and they have won their past five matches against Wests Tigers by an average of just under 18 points.

In their two clashes of 2020, the Eels won 26-16 in round 11, then 28-24 in round 20.

The Eels are an outstanding defensive side, but they also bring a difference style of attack to most of their NRL rivals, with offloads among their big pack of forwards often the key to cracking defensive structures.

Wests Tigers will need to muscle up in defence and watch for the second-phase play; Eels wingers Maika Sivo and Blake Ferguson have had a field day finishing off the good work of their front men.

The weather forecast is clear for Easter Monday in Sydney, so you can expect a fairly free-flowing contest, and Wests Tigers have enough speed and skill in their back line to cause problems for the Parra defence.

Wests Tigers v Eels team news for round 4

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has stuck solid with the 17 players who went to Newcastle last week and upset the previously undefeated Knights 24-20.

Parramatta welcome back tough second-rower Ryan Matterson (concussion) after he was injured in a clash that resulted in Melbourne Storm star Felise Kaufusi being suspended.

His replacement in the win against the Sharks, Isaiah Papali’i, goes back to the pine, with Keegan Hipgrave out of the 17.

There is some doubt over star Eels halfback Mitchell Moses (head knock), who failed a HIA in the first half against Cronulla. They have playmaker Will Smith on the bench.

Wests Tigers v Eels free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Wests Tigers-Eels betting tips for Monday’s game.

Eels to win/match total over 42.5 at $2.33

The Eels are a rock-solid side. They will be right up there when the finals roll around, though question marks remain about their ability against the best sides when it is all on the line. Wests should put enough points on the board to ensure more than 42.5 points will be scored.

Adam Doueihi to score 1 try at $5.50

Rising Australian bookie Topsport offers markers on the exact number of tries a player will score. For the skilful Doueihi  it is 0 tries at $1.14; 1 try at $5.50; 2 tries at $38; 3+ tries at $161. The Tigers five-eighth has shown signs early this season that he is ready to emerge as a real star of the NRL, after playing his craft at fullback last season. We will have a small wager on him to cross once for the match.

Wests Tigers v Parramatta Eels prediction 5-4-2021

There has been too many one-sided matches through found 4 so we hope the round can end on a high with a great contest between these two fierce rivals. There is no doubt Wests Tigers have the talent to put on a show, but the Eels are just looking so solid in the forwards especially that it is hard to tip against them. Our Tigers v Eels prediction: Parramatta by 10 points.
