NRL Round 18 odds, schedule and times

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

NRL Round 18 kicks off on Thursday night, September 10, with the Wests Tigers-South Sydney clash at Bankwest Stadium and finishes on Sunday night. Our NRL betting expert has examined the odds in our usual Monday column highlighting what league action is on for the week ahead.

The Rabbitohs are hot favourites at $1.37 against the Tigers ($3.05), who need a win against the odds to have any hope of a late run to the finals. Souths have lost touch with a possible top four spot with their disappointing loss to the Storm last Friday, but should have too much firepower in this clash.

The match of the round is the Friday night clash between top team Penrith ($1.43) and third-placed Parramatta ($2.85).

The Panthers have lost only one match all season and are at the top of their game, while the Eels have hit a rough patch. The latter struggled to get past New Zealand Warriors 24-18 on Sunday and now must aim up without workhorse hooker Reed Mahoney (AC joint).

Newcastle ($6.75) say they will rest ace fullback Kalyn Ponga for their big match against Sydney Roosters ($1.10) at the SCG on Saturday night. But they could regain Daniel Saifiti (knee), Edrick Lee (arm) and Sione Mata’utia (ankle).

Earlier on Saturday, the Gold Coast Titans ($1.73) are favourites for a rare time against derby rivals Brisbane Broncos ($2.10). It is a chance for the Titans to possibly condemn the Broncos to the wooden spoon.

Eighth-placed Cronulla ($1.50) head into their important match on Sunday night against the NZ Warriors ($2.63) missing a couple of key players. Halfback Chad Townsend has been banned for three weeks for a shoulder charge and captain Wade Graham for two for a dangerous throw.

NRL Premiership odds before Round 18

Bookmakers think the 2020 title race is a match in three, with the fourth team in the betting Parramatta moving from $8.50 to $9 after a less than convincing display against the NZ Warriors.

Canberra were $10 out to $15 after losing at home to the Roosters, who top betting at $3.25 despite sitting in fourth place.

The Rabbitohs appeal as the team outside the top four most likely to cause some surprises in the finals, but they of course must do it without superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell.
