NRL Round 2 odds, schedule and times

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Round two of the 2021 NRL season kicks off on Thursday, March 18, with Parramatta v Melbourne Storm, and runs until Sunday evening. Our NRL betting expert has examined the odds in our usual Monday column highlighting what league action is on for the week ahead.

The outstanding match of the second round is undoubtedly the opener between the Eels and the defending champions Storm, with both teams coming off first-round wins. Parramatta took a half to get warm but reeled in the Broncos in Brisbane, while the Storm were brilliant out of the blocks and then held off a spirited Souths outfit for a comfortable win.

Bookmakers have made the Storm $1.45 favourites against Parramatta ($2.75), and this is certainly a clash that will test the merits of the Eels early in the season. The Storm are among the title favourites again, while Parramatta need a big scalp to establish their bona fides.

The early match on Friday pits two first-round winners against each other in the impressive Warriors and the Newcastle Knights. It’s more or less a home game for the Knights at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford against the NRL’s nomads.

Then in the second match on Friday the Broncos will be desperate to upstage their derby rivals the Titans, who disappointed first-up against the Warriors but are hot favourites for this one.

Manly v South Sydney in the 5.30pm time slot is the pick of the Super Saturday games, while the round finishes on Sunday with Wests Tigers-Sydney Roosters followed by another pair of first-round winners in the Cronulla Sharks and Canberra Raiders.

NRL Premiership odds before Round 2

The Gold Coast Titans’ bubble was burst almost immediately as they blew from $16 to $21 after their poor first-up display against the New Zealand Warriors. Bookies had been impressed by the Titans off-season signings of the likes of boom forwards David Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and that pair was impressive but the Titans will need much more input from their playmakers if they are to challenge for finals this season.

There was little move at the top of 2021 NRL title betting markets as the big players the Storm, Panthers and Roosters were all super impressive, though Souths did come hard at the Storm in the second half.

There were plenty of disappointing displays and bookmakers were quick to react, easing Manly from $19 out to $34 to land a title, while the Brisbane Broncos were all but written off already, moving from $31 out to $67.
