NRL Saturday: Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles betting tips, prediction & odds, round 15, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Welcome to our South Sydney v Manly Warringah match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, August 22.

This looms as an intriguing clash between two old enemies, with the Bunnies sitting in eighth place and Manly 10th. A win for Souths would all but kill off Manly’s finals hopes.

We chose this Souths-Manly clash, the third and final match on NRL Super Saturday, as our match of the day. The earlier matches are the Gold Coast Titans v Canberra Raiders at Cbus Super Stadium from 3pm, and Wests Tigers v Sydney Roosters from Leichhardt Oval at 5.30pm.

Souths and Manly played twice in the 2019 season with the Bunnies winning on both occasions. They won 21-20 in round 17 thanks to an Adam Reynolds field goal in the the 74th minute, then 34-26 in the second week of the finals when it was five tries apiece.

The Rabbitohs were lucky to escape with a 31-30 win over the Cowboys last weekend and it was again halfback Reynolds who stepped up with the winning field goal.

The Sea Eagles, already ravaged by injuries, have now lost stand-in fullback fullback Brendan Elliot to a long-term knee injury. They do get some good news this week with gun prop Marty Taupau back after a head knock.

Souths have called in Bayley Sironen to start in the second row with Liam Knight suspended. Jack Johns, son of NRL legend Matthew Johns, comes on to the bench.

Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Souths v Manly betting tips.

Souths to win/match total under 42.5 points

This option is paying around $2.80 with leading betting site Unibet Australia. While we admire the fortitude of the Sea Eagles to stay competitive int he face of so many injuries, we just feel as though Souths have more points in them. We expect a brutal, tight battle up front, but Souths to be a little too classy.

Alex Johnston first try-scorer at $8.50

The Souths winger rarely misses out and always looms as the man most likely to score for the Bunnies. As always with the first try-scorer market, you are taking an educated guess, but a small bet at decent odds can make for an exciting start to the game. We can see Johnston being on the spot to finish off a South back-line move.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Manly Sea Eagles prediction

We have a soft spot for the Rabbitohs and they should be boosted this week by having Wayne Bennett back at the helm after his ban for breaching COVID-19 protocols. But to be honest they have been a little disappointing overall when it comes to tackling tough opposition this season. Manly on the other hand have fought tootch and nail every week with little luck and many injuries. But again this time we expect the Souths’ talented back-line to get them over the line. Our Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles prediction: South by four points.
