NRL Saturday: Wests Tigers v Eels betting tips, prediction & odds, round 20, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Welcome to our Wests Tigers v Parramatta Eels preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday night, September 26.

This is the third match on Super Saturday, with the earlier matches Canterbury Bulldogs against the Penrith Panthers from ANZ Stadium at 3pm, and Cronulla Sharks v Canberra Raiders at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium at 5.30pm.

If the Sharks-Raiders match goes as many pundits expect, which is a win to the fifth-placed Raiders against the severely depleted Sharks, Parramatta will need to beat the Wests Tigers to finish in the top four and take a double chance into next weekend’s finals.

The Tigers are always dangerous opponents and can play without the pressure that seems to be piling up on the Eels. Wests Tigers were thrashed last week by the Storm 50-22, but before that pushed Souths all the way in a 26-24 loss and beat Manly 34-32.

Michael Maguire’s team is also farewelling clubs legends Benji Marshall and Chris Lawrence, so they could really come out humming.

Parramatta, despite a relatively healthy squad, have only just been going over the past month, with unspectacular wins over the NZ Warriors and Brisbane Broncos, and dismal losses against Souths (38-0) and Penrith (20-2).

The good news for Parra coach Brad Arthur is they have won eight of the past 10 matches against Wests Tigers.

Wests Tigers have been a better attacking team than the Eels, but the latter has been well ahead on the defensive side.

Parramatta stick with the side that subdued Brisbane last week, though  Junior Paulo and Shaun Lane move back to the starting side and Kane Evans and Andrew Davey are back on the pine.

The Tigers have some big ins, including halfback Luke Brooks after suspension to partner Marshall in the halves. Speedster Tommy Talau is back at centre to replace Joey Leilua, and Alex Twal has recovered from sickness and is in at lock, with Matt Eisenhuth back on the bench.

Prop Josh Aloiai is out injured, while second-rower Sam McIntyre (head knock) could not be considered. Tom Mikaele and Luke Garner replace that pair.

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Wests Tigers-Parramatta betting tips for Saturday night’s game.

Wests Tigers +7.5/match total over 42.5

The Tigers can be an electric attacking team, and they really do have nothing to lose here. They will want to honour Marshall and Lawrence so don’t be surprised to see them really play with some flair. The weather forecast is not great and the Eels are a good defensive line-up, but look out if the Tigers get on a roll.

David Nofoaluma first try-scorer

The Wests Tigers winger has been the leading try-scorer in the NRL for most of the season but was overhauled by Cowboys winger Kyle Feldt, who scored a hat-trick against the Broncos on Thursday night. The Tigers should give their man every chance to get back in the top spot. Also check out what he is paying for multiple tries on game day, as we recommended with Feldt in our Broncos-Cowboys preview.

Wests Tigers v Parramatta Eels prediction 26-9-2020

This is a huge game for the Eels. If the Raiders win and Parra let this one slip, it could be a shirt-lived finals campaign for a team that earlier in the year was ruling favourite for the title. Now about $12 is available on them lifting the cup. Their defence has generally been first rate but they really need to get something happening in attack to trouble the big three teams of the Rosters, Storm and Panthers. We think the Eels will have to sweat it out before getting over the line. Our Wests Tigers v Parra prediction: Eels by four points.
