The Tigers fought bravely against Port Adelaide on Friday night, but ultimately fell short, against a Power team that was hit heavily by injuries during the game.

Richmond has been priced more accurately this week at $1.37 to win, while St Kilda is as long as $3.15 with some AFL betting sites. The $1.90 line has been set at 14.5 points.

St Kilda suffered another injury blow in their win over the Eagles, with the talented Jade Gresham doing his Achilles and being ruled out for the season. Other Saints who will unable to be considered include Dan Hannebery, Jarryn Geary and James Frawley.

Richmond has few injury concerns, barring consistent midfielder Dion Prestia and defender Nick Vlastuin, while fringe player Kamdyn McIntosh is at least another week away from returning from concussion. They have been boosted by the news Sydney Stack will return from club suspension in the VFL, after his latest off-field indiscretion landed him in jail.

St Kilda v Richmond betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has run the rule over the odds and found some value St Kilda v Richmond tips:

St Kilda +14.5 points

St Kilda’s work rate and intensity notably lifted in the second half against West Coast and they will be hoping this continues against the Tigers. It’s hard seeing the present Tigers team dishing out a whipping to the Saints, especially after the tough game against the Power on the road. The +14.5 mark is enough for us to take a stab on the Saints being in this contest long enough, to earn us a pay. Aussie bookmaker TopSport also has $2 lines for round 5 AFL matches.

Jack Riewoldt to kick 2+ goals

Riewoldt has clearly been the best Tigers forward in 2021, with his partner in crime Tom Lynch struggling to have a major impact. While Riewoldt might not win much of the ball, he is still among the smartest forwards in the game and him to score 2+ goals is a nice leg at $1.30 in your same game multis. A word of warning on Lynch, he’s burnt us two weeks in a row and we would resist taking him for goals this week.

St Kilda v Richmond prediction 15/4/2021

Halfway through Richmond’s loss to Port Adelaide we were cursing ourselves for betting against them, but luckily for us, they were rolled. We are not willing to put money on Richmond losing three games in a row, a rarity in modern times. We do think the Saints have the midfielders to trouble Richmond, who sorely missed Dion Prestia. It will just be a matter of whether they can kick enough goals against a well drilled defence. The Tigers also desperately need more out of star forward Lynch, who looks a touch slow and out of confidence this year. Our final St Kilda v Richmond prediction? Tigers by eight points.
