This match is the second in a double-header on the day and looms as one of the matches of the season as the Stars fight to get back in the title mix.
A win in this game or their final match against the Sixers would ensure the Stars finish top five, but if they lose both they could miss out entirely.
The Stars will be without West Indies opener Andre Fletcher, who was due to depart after this game to play in the UAE’s T10 league.

Fletcher suffered a calf strain in the loss to the Renegades during the week. He had an average campaign overall, with one good knock but a string of failures with the bat. He was, though, outstanding in the outfield.
Meanwhile, the red-hot Scorchers have won seven of their past eight matches and are eyeing a spot in the top two for the finals. The Stars could also finish top two if they can win both their remaining matches and other results fall their way.
The Scorchers defeated the Hurricanes just a day earlier than this match, with another powerhouse bowling display from the likes of the competition’s leading wicket-taker so far Jhye Richardson.
Both teams have pretty close to their strongest line-ups, though the Stars may consider including pace bowler Billy Stanlake for this clash.

Marcus Stoinis man of the match
Stoinis is a proven commodity at the highest levels of the game and has a chance to remind national selectors of his ability in the shorter forms of the game.
