Stars v Strikers betting tips, prediction & odds; BBL match 40 Preview

Scorchers v Renegades BBL10

Welcome to our Melbourne Stars v Adelaide Strikers betting tips, winner prediction and odds analysis for Game 40 of the 2020-21 Big Bash League at the MCG on Friday, January 15.

These teams met for the first time this tournament at Adelaide Oval on Monday, with the Strikers winning by five wickets in the final match of the season for star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan.

As always Khan was a key player; his dismissal of Stars superstar Glenn Maxwell first ball was a huge setback as the Stars batted first and were restricted to 7-149.

The Strikers had few difficulties hauling in that total, and now the season is pretty much on the line for the highly rated Stars, who have lost five of their past six matches.

The Stars’ problem has not been entirely in scoring runs; more that they have been too easy to score against. Star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who has run into great form with the bat as opener, is ready to bowl again for this match and that could help as he is generally a clever medium-pacer and hard to hit.

The Strikers hope to regain paceman Peter Siddle, who missed the clash on Monday because of a fractured thumb on his non-bowling hand.

This match is huge for both teams. A win to the Stars and they could draw level on points with the fourth-placed Strikers. A loss, and it’s probably curtains for BBL10 for Glenn Maxwell’s team.

Stars v Strikers betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Stars v Strikers tips for Friday night’s BBL clash.

Melbourne Stars most match sixes

The Stars have not been great head to head but they are still one of the real power-hitting teams of the competition thanks to the likes of Stoinis and Maxwell. The Strikers are well down the list of sixes hit for the season so we will confidently tip the Stars to hit more maximums at the big MCG. Be aware that there is a third option for the teams to hit the same number of sixes so your team must win outright in this market.

Haris Rauf most wickets for Stars

The Pakistan speedster has had a bit of a rough return to the BBL in the past couple of games but he should be a lot better suited in the first match of the BBL season at the MCG.

Stars v Strikers prediction 15/1/2021

The Strikers have been fairly consistent this season but they look nowhere near as dangerous without Khan to bring the magic. They will be sweating on Travis Head getting back from Test duties to boost them in the run home. Our final Stars v Strikers prediction: Stars to win the return bout and stay in the final mix with a good run of games to come.
