The stakes could not be higher for these two teams, who are both in contention to make the finals, with Richmond facing the possibility of slipping a game outside the top eight, if they drop this clash.
The Bulldogs are on the same amount of points as third-placed Geelong, and will be determined to win a third successive clash and stake their claim for a top four position.
Richmond are coming off a hard fought loss to GWS as they struggle to recapture last year’s flag form with injuries keeping the likes of skipper Trent Cotchin and Dion Prestia out of their team.
The Western Bulldogs’ last outing was a five-point victory over the Gold Coast Suns, which was set up by strong games from the likes of Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel and Bailey Smith.
AFL betting sites have priced Richmond at about the $1.75 mark in the betting, while the Western Bulldogs’ odds are $2.10. The line has been set at +3.5 which is a little bit narrow for our tastes.

The Tigers are some chance of regaining skipper Trent Cotchin from a hamstring injury, but they may take a cautious approach with soft tissue injuries hampering the tough midfielder. Key defender David Astbury will be given every chance to prove his fitness.
The Western Bulldogs are unlikely to regain Lachie Hunter from a mental health break, with Josh Dunkley, Lin Jong, Taylor Duryea, Aaron Naughton and Josh Schache all due back in the coming weeks.

Tom Lynch to kick 3+ goals
The Tigers spearhead has not been at his best in 2020, with a broken hand (that required surgery) his latest setback a few weeks ago. Lynch has spoken publicly this week and said that is not an issue and he has just not been marking well. We think a dry night on the Gold Coast could very well spark him into form. Lynch is paying $3.75 to kick 3+ goals with Unibet Australia.
Western Bulldogs v Richmond prediction 29/7/2020
We think the Richmond and Western Bulldogs are both finals bound in 2020, with both having outstanding lists that are well coached. The Tigers are the bookies’ favourite for this one, but we think it will be very close. While Richmond have probably peaked, they are still good enough to cause a lot of damage if they get their first-choice midfield back on the park. The Dogs are also missing some talent, but despite the likes of Dunkley and Hunter being sidelined we think they are a little bit more settled than their opponent. Our final Bulldogs v Richmond prediction? Dogs by 9 points.
