Ireland, Nevada gambling regulators sign cooperation agreement
The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), marking the Irish regulator’s first formal cooperation agreement with a gambling authority in the United States.
The agreement strengthens ties between one of the world’s newest gambling regulators and Nevada’s long-established gaming watchdog, with both organisations committing to closer collaboration on licensing, compliance and the regulation of online gambling platforms that increasingly operate across borders.

The announcement follows Ireland’s recent commencement of licensing for online and remote betting services under its new regulatory framework and comes just weeks after the GRAI signed a similar cooperation agreement with Denmark’s gambling regulator, reflecting its broader strategy of building international regulatory partnerships.
GRAI Chief Executive Officer Anne Marie Caulfield said Nevada’s decades of experience would prove invaluable as the Irish regulator continues to establish itself.
“The knowledge and expertise that the Nevada Gaming Control Board have in terms of gambling regulation are very valuable to us in the GRAI,” Caulfield said.
“We very much welcome the insight, guidance, and experience that the NGCB can provide to the GRAI as a newly established regulator, and I look forward to our continued partnership with the shared goal of consumer protection and public health and safety at the heart of operations.”
NGCB Chairman Mike Dreitzer welcomed the agreement and said there were multiple ways they could collaborate in the future.
“We are pleased to sign an MOU with the GRAI and look forward to sharing best practices with them and advancing our collaboration,” he said.
The MOU establishes a framework for the two regulators to exchange information, share regulatory expertise and cooperate on issues relating to gambling oversight as online betting markets continue to expand globally.
While the USA is a burgeoning online gambling market, they are relatively new to regulation, with this only really coming into effect in any large scale following the repeal of PASPA, which paved the way for states to license online casinos and betting sites.
