BETER gains Alberta supplier registration for esports and sports betting content

BETER has received Services Supplier Registration from Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), allowing the betting-content supplier to work with licensed operators in Alberta’s regulated online gambling market.

The registration covers BETER’s live streams, real-time data and odds for its proprietary esports and sports competitions. These include ESportsBattle events in eFootball, eBasketball, eHockey and eTennis, plus the Setka Cup table tennis series and BSKT Cup basketball league.

BETER CEO Gal Ehrlich is confident their product will stack up well in Alberta and other regulated North American gambling markets.

“Expanding into Alberta is another important step in BETER’s growth across the Canadian market and strengthens our position in North America,” he said.

“Alberta’s regulated market provides new opportunities for operators to access our exclusive products, supported by reliable data, live streams, and odds.

“Success in Alberta demonstrates the continued demand for BETER’s round-the-clock content and reinforces our commitment to building a strong and sustainable presence in Canada.”

The approval does not mean BETER has launched a consumer-facing betting product or agreed a deal with an Alberta gambling website. Instead, it means Alberta-licensed operators can potentially integrate the supplier’s content, subject to the further technical, compliance and commercial steps required to enter the market.

Alberta’s private regulated iGaming market only opened on July 13, 2026, making it one of Canada’s newest provincial online gambling frameworks. AGLC regulates the market, while the Alberta iGaming Corporation handles market operations and commercial arrangements. Operators and suppliers must meet provincial standards, including requirements around technology certification and connection to Alberta’s centralized self-exclusion system.

For players, the registration could eventually mean more around-the-clock betting markets on short-form esports simulations, table tennis and basketball events through Canadian licensed gambling sites. BETER says its portfolio supplies odds and live coverage for more than 740,000 events a year, with up to 50 betting markets available for an event.

Alberta’s government has said that unregulated providers previously accounted for about 70% of the province’s total iGaming market. The new system is intended to bring more online gambling activity into a regulated environment with player-protection rules, including a minimum participation age of 18, financial and time-limit tools, and measures to identify potentially high-risk gambling behaviour.

The Alberta registration is BETER’s second provincial approval in Canada. The company announced an Ontario Gaming-Related Supplier Registration earlier in September.

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market has operated since April 2022 and recorded C$82.7 billion in wagers during the 2024-25 fiscal year, according to iGaming Ontario.

Valeriia Tarchynska, BETER’s Chief Legal Officer, said the two Canadian registrations reflected the company’s focus on compliance as it expands in North America. She added that the Alberta application was completed with Toronto-based law firm GME Law.
