Adelaide v Melbourne betting tips, prediction and odds analysis; AFL Rd 10 preview

Welcome to our Adelaide v Melbourne betting tips, predictions and odds analysis ahead of their round 10 AFL clash from the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night.

The Crows are coming off arguably their worst performance in a winless season after their dismal 69-point loss to fellow strugglers North Melbourne on Saturday night. They will now need to back up off two days less break than Melbourne, which could spell trouble for the home team.

The Dees are hardly heading into the clash with confidence after their 51-point capitulation at the hands of Port Adelaide, a loss that has some pundits questioning the direction coach Simon Goodwin is taking with the club. But it would be a brave call to remove a coach in the current COVID-19 crisis given the Demons’ well documented financial struggles over the years.

The Demons have been priced at $1.37 to defeat the Crows, who are $3.10 to cause an upset and record a much-needed victory for first-year coach Matthew Nicks. Unibet has set the line for this clash at 16.5.

Adelaide have made eight changes for the clash with the biggest names to return being Taylor Walker, Tom Doedee and Darcy Fogarty. David Mackay, Fischer McAsey, Ned McHenry and first-gamer gamers Lachlan Sholl and Harry Schoenberg have also been included.

The Crows have again dropped veteran Bryce Gibbs after just one senior game back, while the axe has also swung on Riley Knight, Kieran Strachan and Rory Atkins. Andrew McPherson, Kyle Hartigan, Shane McAdam and Tyson Stengle have been managed.

Melbourne have recalled Harley Bennell after being managed against the Power, while recruit Adam Tomlinson, Aaron vandenBerg and Alex Neal-Bullen have also been selected. The Demons have axed Tom and Oscar McDonald and Mitch Hannan, while the exciting Kysaiah Pickett is injured.

Adelaide v Melbourne tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Crows v Demons tips for Wednesday’s game.

Sam Weidemann to kick 3+ goals

The weather in Adelaide on Wednesday night is expected to be fine and we think big Sam Weidemann can get on the end of a few. It will help Weidemann that Tom McDonald has been dropped, because he played the best game of his career a fortnight ago, when he was the main focal point. We think the $4.50 on offer for Weidemann to kick 3+ goals looks like good value.

Handicap Adelaide Crows 16.5 and Total Points 123.5

This is a unique market Unibet is offering and it is offering some great value. We are taking Melbourne Demons and Over, which means the Dees have to win by 17 points or more and the total match points need to be over 123.5, which we think will happen. We expect the first half to be hard-fought, but Melbourne to kick away with their fresh legs in the second.

Adelaide Crows v Melbourne Demons prediction 5/8/2020

We are expecting this game to be ugly with both teams desperately needing a win to keep the wolves at bay, although Nicks is likely to be given some leeway with the Crows embarking on a full rebuild. The Demons on the other hand were expected to play finals in 2020 which is slipping away from them. Lose this one and they can almost kiss the post-season goodbye. Our final Adelaide v Melbourne prediction? Melbourne by 36 points.
