Gold Coast will be tempted to include ruckman Zac Smith to combat Brodie Grundy, although the big man is only a few games deep in a comeback from a long-term injury. However the season-ending knee to Jarrod Witts could force Stuart Dew’s hand.

Collingwood face a serious test against a Gold Coast team that has never beaten them at the MCG. The young Suns look to have more spread through the midfield, but Collingwood have more experience down back. The burning question is whether Magpies captain Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom can lift their team out of the doldrums, against a greatly improved Suns. If this wasn’t at the MCG we’d be taking the Suns with confidence, but we think this might end up a low-scoring arm-wrestle, which will suit the Magpies. Our final Collingwood v Gold Coast prediction? Magpies by two points.
