Collingwood v Hawthorn betting tips, prediction and odds; AFL rd 6 preview

AFL round 12 odds 2021 - covid fixture update

The Magpies-Hawks clash at the unlikely venue of Giants Stadium on Friday night will be an unusual experience for both teams, which are more used to the MCG than a boutique ground fitting  24,000.

Both teams have played there recently and lowered their colours to the GWS Giants and this is a vital clash for both teams to try to get their seasons back on track.

A couple of weeks back the Magpies were riding high at the top of premiership betting but they have hit a few hurdles, with star midfielder Steele Sidebottom banned four matches, Jordan De Goey out for this match and flying defender Jeremy Howe brought down with a knee injury.

Hawthorn have been hot and cold but were well beaten last weekend against the Giants.

The Hawks could regain former Giants forward Jon Patton from a foot injury to replace Mitch Lewis (hamstring).

The Magpies are tipped to blood father-son draft selection Will Kelly in place of giant forward Mason Cox, who was poor against Essendon.

Below we have highlighted our free Collingwood v Hawthorn tips and given our winner prediction, ahead of Friday night’s AFL Round 6 clash at Giants Stadium.

Collingwood v Hawthorn tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Magpies v Hawthorn tips for Friday night’s game.

Hawthorn to win by 1-24 points

Hawthorn have won 12 of their past 13 matches against Collingwood, and there is no reason they won’t continue that dominance. Sure the Hawks were easily brushed aside by GWS last week, but Collingwood were easily held by a pretty plain Essendon side, plus they lose X-factor player De Goey.

Tri-Bet: Hawthorn over 15.5 points

Similar to the above bet but this one could be for bettors with more confidence the Hawks will get the job done pretty comfortably.

Collingwood Magpies v Hawthorn Hawks prediction

We think the bookies have the odds wrong in this match. Whichever way you slice it the Magpies are the Hawks bunnies; coach Nathan Buckley has had no answers for his Hawks opposite number Alastair Clarkson. Ladder positions, form etc have mattered little as season after season the Hawks embarrass the Magpies, winning 12 of the past 13 matches between the two teams. We can’t see any reason that will change this week. Our final prediction: Hawthorn by 18 points.
