Brisbane v Richmond betting tips, prediction & odds; AFL Qualifying Final preview 2020

Geelong host the Brisbane Lions at the unusual venue of the SCG, but this promises to be a real eye-opener as far as premiership contenders are concerned in 2020.

Brisbane Lions inflicted the first defeat on Port Adelaide at the Gabba last round in great style and are at close to full strength.

Meanwhile, Geelong celebrated the 350th and 300th games of club legends Gary Ablett Jr and Joel Selwood respectively with a crushing win over rising Gold Coast Suns.

If the match is anything like their last clash we are in for a treat. That was late last season when the stakes were high and the Lions scraped in by a point for their ninth straight win.

The hero on that occasion was former Cat Lincoln McCarthy, who took a screamer with less than two minutes left and slottd a goal to put the Lions in front for one of the rare occasions on the day.

There should be some real feeling in this game.

The Lions could regain dynamic midfielder Dayne Zorko from a calf injury which would be timely given they will be without midfield recruit Cameron Ellis-Yolmen for several matches also with a calf injury.

Geelong have a hefty injury list but most of their prime movers have dodged any issues. They could include veteran ruckman/ forward Josh Jenkins from a back problem while ruckman Rhys Stanley will likely miss another week with a knee problem. The Cats could rest Ablett off a five-day break.

Tri-Bet: Either team to win by under 15.5 points

This option is at $2.30 with Australia-based bookie PlayUp. We think the small ground will suit Geelong a little better than the running Lions, which hopefully will keep the match tight.

Tom Hawkins leading goalkicker

At the time of writing this market had not been released but we think Hawkins will be suited by the SCG, where one kick out of the middle can land around the goal square. He’s a big presence and hard to shift, and if the weather is a little damp as expected it should not hurt him too much as he is more a mark on the chest sort of player than a high-flyer.

Geelong Cats v Brisbane Lions prediction

We see a hyper-competitive start to round 6 from two teams who have legitimate claims to the flag this season. The Lions are riding high but things can really change so rapidly in this 2020 season so no surprise to see the Cats stake their claim here before they head to the West Australian hub.
