South Africa v England 3rd Test betting predictions, tips & match preview

Welcome to our India v England betting tips, prediction and odds analysis for the 3rd Test under lights at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad, starting on Wednesday, February 24.

This match is a day-night Test played with a pink ball, only the second to be held in India after the Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata in 2019.

India levelled the four-Test series against England 1-1 with an emphatic 317-run win in the second Test at Chennai, but there is some thought the pink ball will better suit England’s seam attack, or at least take away some of the edge spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel gave their team in the second Test.

Paceman Umesh Yadav is back in contention for a spot in the India side after recovering from a calf injury, but the home team is likely to make only one change, bringing back pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah to try to take advantage of the conditions.

England are likely to call on the express pace of Jofra Archer and the swinging brilliance of vetern James Anderson for this match. They have also called Jonny Bairstow and Mark Wood into the squad after that pair was rested for the first two Test.

Spinning all-rounder Moeen Ali has been sent home to England for a break despite his outstanding display in the second Test when he took eight wickets and top-scored in England’s second innings with 43. Ali also did the right thing by WGL followers by taking the most wickets in India’s first innings, as forecast by our cricket experts.

This is a vital Test match with an eye on the World Test Championships. New Zealand are certain of a spot in the final at Lord’s but their opponents could be India (if they win the series), Australia (if England win 2-1 or series is drawn) or England (if England win 3-1).

India v England betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several India v England tips for the third Test.

Jofra Archer most wickets India first innings

The West Indies-born paceman is a real handful when he finds the right conditions. It can be difficult for the batsmen to pick up the ball under lights, and it’s hard enough deal with Archer’s short stuff at the best of time. While he is fresh, expect him to make inroads.

Rishabh Pant top run-scorer India first innings

The wicketkeeper has been in sublime form with the bat. If the conditions are tough for batting we could see early inroads into the top orders of both teams, and if that happens then the likes of Pant will be needed for a rescue mission. He is a fearless type of batsman who takes on the opposition no matter the situation. It’s worth a small wager at good value with Unibet.

India v England prediction 24/2/2021

There is a school of thought that because the pitch at Sardar Patel Stadium has little grass on it, that the spinners will again be more dangerous than is usual in these pink ball matches. But in all the day-night Tests to date the pacemen have tended to dominate. In the 15 played  fast bowlers average 24.47, and spinners 35.38. As a neutral we are hoping ball does not dominate bat to the extent the match is over in three days. We think the conditions will even things up for the English team, with Archer and Anderson tough to handle but India also have a healthy seam attack led by Bumrah. Our final India v England prediction? India to win a low-scoring, tense match by less than 100 runs/4 wickets.
