SLINGO will continue to be offered by lottery operators, after Scientific Games Corporation announced it had renewed its rights agreement with Gaming Realms.

Scientific Games now has the right to continue to offer the iconic SLINGO brand in lottery for instant, terminal-generated and draw-based games for four more years. This agreement encompasses North America, UK, Europe, New Zealand and Australia’s regulated gambling markets.

Scientific Games has also been granted the opportunity to host SLINGO branded digital lottery games, which have become increasingly popular at online gambling sites.

SLINGO, a combination of player favorites bingo and slots, remains one of the hottest brands for lottery games since it came to life in 1995.

More than 350 SLINGO branded lottery games have been launched by 40 lotteries around the world, with 550 million tickets sold valued at more than $1.7 billion. With 30 million players new to lottery in the pandemic, SLINGO is enjoying renewed popularity.

The brand is often featured in extended play instant scratch games, which have increased in sales by 26% over the past year. Retail sales of SLINGO branded games are up 87% (May 2020-May 2021).

Michael Buckley, Executive Chairman of Gaming Realms, said they were “delighted” to extend their 20-year licensing agreement with Scientific Games.

“Our collaboration on SLINGO lottery products has proven to be very successful to date, and we look forward to continuing our work together for the enjoyment of players,” he said.

The brand has been featured in the Scientific Games licensed products portfolio since 2000, and it is consistently a top-performing brand globally. SLINGO games remain a perennial staple in many U.S. lotteries’ game portfolios. The Idaho Lottery launched its 75th SLINGO game in 2021, with other lotteries stacking up 30+ or even 50+ editions over the years.

“Players love SLINGO. We are excited for the opportunity to continue innovating more great retail and digital SLINGO games to keep them entertained, and to help lotteries generate funding for their beneficiary programs,” said Liz Johnson, Director of Lottery Licensed Properties for Scientific Games.

“SLINGO is perfect for extended play instant games, and the games also include an instant win feature for players to win an instant cash prize.”

Scientific Games credits the brand’s strength to the crossover of casino slots and lottery instant game players. The company’s player segmentation study cited that 74 per cent of casino slots players play instant games and 50% of instant games players play slots.

Scientific Games provides games, technology and services to more than 150 lotteries around the globe, and is the world’s largest creator, manufacturer and services provider of lottery instant games in the world with products generating more than 70 per cent of global instant game retail sales.
