While this Broncos-Titans match does not look the most enticing fare, there should be plenty of feeling in this one given their former big brother-little brother relationship that has been turned on its head by the fact the Titans are expected to win and win easily.

In a quirk in the draw, this is the second time this season these teams have played, with the Titans winning 28-16 in round two on the Gold Coast.

Of course, boom second-rower David Fifita famously departed the Broncos in the off-season to join the Titans on a megabucks deal and he has been in sensational form, scoring a hat-trick before half-time in the crazy 30-40 loss to Souths last weekend.

That was Fifita’s second hat-trick for the season, and he has nine tries from just seven games, an incredible performance from the forward.

The Broncos head into this match with four straight losses, and they have been thrashed by 29 poitns or more in three of those. They did, however, lose by only eight points to the rampant Penrith a fortnight ago at home, so that is something a little tenuous for Broncos fans to hang their hopes on.

Broncos v Titans team news for round 8

Broncos coach Kevin Walters has reacted savagely to the 46-6 thrashing from the Eels in Darwin last weekend, with halves Brodie Croft and Tom Dearden both axed.

Much-maligned Anthony Milford wins a recall from reserve grade, and will partner young halfback Tyson Gamble in the halves against the Titans.

Jesse Arthars returns at centre after illness, with veteran former Titans player David Mead out of the 17.

Gold Coast have named towering winger  Anthony Don (hip), while forward Herman Ese’ese is due to play his first game for the Titans off the bench.

Broncos v Titans free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted free Brisbane-Gold Coast tips for Friday’s game.

Broncos/Titans half-time/full-time double

The bet with TopSport requires the Broncos to lead at half-time and the Titans to win the game in normal time. We have had success involving the Broncos in this type of bet as they have tended to fall away in the second half of games. In fact, they have not scored at all in the second half in their past four games.

Xavier Coates to score exactly one try

The Broncos winger loves a try and he is one of the great hopes for the future of a team that is at arguably the lowest ebb in its history. TopSport offers a market in which you can bet on a player scoring a specific number of tries. For Coates, it is: 0 tries $1.57; 1 try $3.10; 2 tries $8; 3+ tries $21.

Brisbane Broncos v Gold Coast Titans prediction 30-4-2021

This will be another fascinating installment and we should see how much pride the Broncos players have, given their performance last week and also the fact they are playing a their ‘derby’. We think they will make life tough for the Titans. We are not entirely sold on the Gold Coast team yet. Their best is great but just when you think they are ready to emerge as a serious team, they let you down. It was disappointing that they could not convert a big half-time lead into a win against the Bunnies last week. Mind you, the Broncos are a long way short of the Souths standard so the Titans should be able to scrape home in a much tighter content than the bookies forecast. Our Broncos v Titans prediction: Titans by 2 points.
