NRL round 14: Sea Eagles v Rabbitohs betting tips
NRL round 14 kicks off with a crucial clash between Manly and Souths, two teams which are justifiably dreaming about challenging for the title this season.
The Sea Eagles, even mostly without superstar Tom Trbojevic, have staged a remarkable resurgence since Kieran Foran took over as interim coach and are sitting in fifth place. They are just two points outside the top four, but also they are tied on 16 points with 10th-placed Wests Tigers.
Souths are in sixth and also tied on 16 points despite dropping three of their past four matches, so it’s easy to see how important this Thursday night blockbuster is for both teams.
We have reached halfway in the season, with one Origin out of the way, and the next few weeks are packed with matches which will decide which teams are challengers and which are pretenders to the NRL trophy that Penrith seemingly have at their mercy.
Australian betting sites have side with the Sea Eagles on home turf here and they are favourites at around $1.62 but this promises to be an even contest in which the rookie interim coach comes up against a master in Wayne Bennett, who still has it at 76 years old.
Sea Eagles v Rabbitohs team news
Both teams regain some significant players for this clash expected to be a played in cool, possibly rainy conditions, though Tom Trbojevic is still a couple of weeks away with a hamstring issue and Souths ace Latrell Mitchell is also not ready to return from a back problem.
Manly regain Origin pair second-rower Haumole Olakau’atu (rested) and winger Tolu Koula (head knock). Koula has satisfied the return-to-play criteria after failing a HIA in the second half of the opening Origin won by NSW.
The Rabbitohs regain game-breaker in second-row forward David Fifita, who has missed about eight weeks with a hamstring injury, and hooker Brandon Smith (calf). Campbell Graham has also been named to return from a calf injury in the centres. Jye Gray is the starting fullback, with Matt Dufty back to the bench. On the negative side forward Adam Elliott (ankle) and winger Talanoa Penitani (hamstring) could be done for the season.

Sea Eagles v Rabbitohs betting tips
The Rabbitohs have an outstanding recent record against Manly, winning eight of the past 10 clashes between these side. The Sea Eagles though have won two of the past three including 30-12 at this ground last NRL season in their only meeting for the year.
Both teams have had their injury setbacks but are now getting back towards their strongest line-ups, but we can’t help but feel the Bunnies are set to pull off an old-fashioned mugging here. Yes, their back line is a little new but their forward pack is outstanding and they can really do some damage through the likes of front-rowers Keaon Koloamatangi and Tevita Tatola.
They will have plenty of motivation and are fresh coming off the bye last so expect them to come out breathing fire.

Souths by 8 points.

- South Sydney Rabbitohs to win / match total under 50.5 at $4 with Australian betting sites.
- Cody Walker has scored six tries in his past six games against Manly. He’s $3.75 to add at least one here.
