NRL Sunday: Warriors v Eels betting tips, prediction & odds, round 17, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Welcome to our New Zealand Warriors v Parramatta Eels match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Central Coast Stadium on Sunday, September 6.

We rated this as the match of the day ahead of the North Queensland Cowboys v St George Illawarra match on Sunday night, mainly because of its importance to the Eels.

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur will be expecting a big reaction from his players after they were embarrassed 38-0 by South Sydney last round, a loss that might have put their top-four status in doubt with the finals looming.

The Warriors have gone on an impressive and surprising run of four wins in their past five games to move to ninth on the table and within sight of a shock finals berth. That is unlikely to eventuate but the Warriors loom as a good test for the Eels as they attempt to get back on track.

Little has separated the Warriors and Eels in recent times (they are 5-5 in their past 10 meetings) but this is their first meeting this season under the unique conditions brought about by the pandemic.

The Warriors have had to shuffle the line-up for this clash, with Eliesa Katoa (hand) injured, and George Jennings and Daniel Alvaro, both players on loan from Parramatta, ruled out of playing against their Eels clubmates. Winger Gerard Beale and back-rower Jack Murchie come into the starting line-up, while Josh Curran and Isaiah Papali’i are added to the bench.

The Eels have had to cover for five-eighth Dylan Brown, who most likely won’t be back until at least the finals after surgery on his ankle. Young utility Jai Field comes in as Brown’s replacement.

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free NZ-Parramatta betting tips.

Parramatta by 13+ points/match total over 38.5

This double is paying around $4.70 with Unibet Australia. We are pretty confident the Eels will react savagely after their lame performance against Souths.

Michael Jennings to score 2 or more tries

The veteran centre has rolled back the clock this year and shown all his old speed and power. Jennings is a handful whoever he plays against and if the Eels get on a roll he will be there ready to pounce.

New Zealand Warriors v Parramatta Eels prediction

As mentioned we expect Arthur has read his Eels the riot act and they will be desperate to get their title bid back on track with an emphatic win here. Losing Brown is a big blow but they have a healthy roster otherwise, while the Warriors have had to ring the changes this week. The Eels were an unstoppable force not so long ago and we should see some of that here. Our Warriors v Eels prediction: Parramatta by 20 points.
