The Sydney Roosters-Canberra match to kick off NRL round 10 on Thursday night is a rematch of last season’s grand final, won 14-8 by the Roosters in somewhat controversial circumstances.

Things have changed dramatically for both teams in the past month, and the Roosters will go into this clash as overwhelming favourites with betting sites.

The Tricolours are sitting pretty in fourth spot on the NRL table with six wins from nine matches and the best points differential in the league.

The Raiders have slumped to seventh and are 5-4, but the big concern for coach Ricky Stuart is an expanding injury list as the fight to stay in the hunt for a top-four spot.

And the quality of players unavailable is the key; match-winning hooker Josh Hodgson (knee) and Bailey Simonsson (shoulder) suffered season-ending injuries in the Raiders’ loss against the Storm last weekend.

Siliva Havili is the man most likely to replace Hodgson at hooker. Jordan Rapana comes in on the wing for Simonsson, while out-of-favour Storm recruit Curtis Scott could return on the bench.

The Roosters lost winger Brett Morris just before their match against the Cowboys, but his replacement Matt Ikuvalu scored an incredible five tries. Still, Morris is expected to return for Ikuvalu. The Roosters could also regain captain Boyd Cordner (head knock) and lock Isaac Liu (broken rib) to boost an already powerful pack.
