NRL Thursday: Wests Tigers v Rabbitohs betting tips, prediction & odds, round 18, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Welcome to our Wests Tigers v South Sydney match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Bankwest Stadium on Thursday, September 10.

It’s not bad fare to kick off round 18, with the Tigers needing a win to keep their remote finals hopes alive after they fought back for an eipc 34-32 win against Manly last round. The Tigers need to win their three remaining games and hope eighth-placed Cronulla slip up.

Souths have won three of the past four meetings between these teams, but the past two have been tense and tight affairs. In their most recent meeting, the Bunnies won 18-10 in round nine this year.

Wayne Bennett’s Bunnies had their winning streak halted with a 22-16 loss to Melbourne Storm last Friday night in a result which effectively ended their top-four hopes. But they still loom as a dangerous floated in the bottom half of the top eight come finals time.

The Rabbitohs regain Queensland Origin star Dane Gagai (hamstring) from injury in place of Jaxson Paulo. That will help add experience to a back line trying to adjust to life without superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell. Liam Knight replaces Tevita Tatola as starting prop.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire, the former Souths coach, has stuck solid with the team that produced a big finish against the Sea Eagles.

Souths -7.5 points/match total over 43.5 points

The Bunnies have dispatched most mid-table opposition in grand style this season and they have plenty of scoring firepower. They also can be a little loose in defence so many of their games are high-scoring. This should be another one and we are happy to be on this double with Unibet Australia.

David Nofoaluma first try-scorer

The Wests Tigers winger has been one of our go-to players all season in try-scoring markets and he has seldom let us down. He scored a hat-trick against Manly to kick clear at the top of the NRL’s try-scoring charts so he is in great form heading into this one. This market it always a little bit of a lottery but you know if Tigers score first there is every chance it will be Nofoaluma.

Wests Tigers v South Sydney Rabbitohs prediction

These are two entertaining teams but the Bunnies just have a harder edge in defence. Souths have aspirations of going deep into the finals while Wests Tigers have regularly been exposed by the better teams all season. While Maguire knows the Bunnies inside out, players like five-eighth Cody Walker and hooker Damien Cook can be impossible to stop once they get on a roll. Our Wests Tigers v Souths prediction: South Sydney by 14 points.
