Pennsylvania release year on year gambling revenue results

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has announced a new record for gaming revenue in the 2024/2025 fiscal year, with a total of $6.39 billion generated across all regulated gambling sectors. This surpasses the previous record of $5.89 billion set during FY 2023/2024.

The total includes revenue from casino slot machines and table games, iGaming, sports wagering, video gaming terminals (VGTs), and fantasy sports contests. Pennsylvania’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30.

Tax revenue from gaming also hit a record high, reaching $2.80 billion, up from approximately $2.54 billion the previous year. These preliminary figures are subject to adjustment by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

For the first time in a non-covid impact year, iGaming, which encompasses online casinos regulated in Pennsylvania surpassed slot machine revenue, showing just how popular gambling online has become since the launch of the legal industry in 2019.

For the fiscal Year 2024/25 gross revenue from slot machines at Pennsylvania casinos was $2,440,474,767, a 0.08% increase in revenue when compared to the $2,438,537,357 generated in 2023/24.

Parx Casino showed a $377,032,792 revenue from slots for the latest financial year, which was an increase of .019 per cent on the previous period, while Pennsylvania showed .08 slots revenue growth from all gambling venues in the same period.

Table game revenue in Pennsylvania dropped over 3 per cent year on year, but this was easily accounted for with the whopping 27.09% increase in revenue generated by iGaming.

Revenue from sports wagering was $487,639,844, a 0.22% increase in revenue when compared to the $486,566,429 generated in Fiscal Year 2023/24.  At the same time, the sports wagering handle increased between the two fiscal years from $8,169,540,520 to $8,721,795,533.

The state distributes gaming tax revenue to benefit Pennsylvanians in several ways, including:

  • Reductions in school property taxes;
  • Funding for local and regional economic, safety, and recreational initiatives;
  • Support for the agricultural sector through horse racing; and
  • Contributions to the Commonwealth’s General Fund.

The PGCB noted that the continued growth reflects strong consumer engagement and effective oversight across Pennsylvania’s diverse gaming landscape.
