Port Adelaide v GWS Giants betting tips and prediction; AFL rd 6 preview

AFL round 12 odds 2021 - covid fixture update

WELCOME to our Port Adelaide v GWS tips and prediction for their round 6 AFL clash from Metricon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Giants have been installed a $1.80 favourite to win the clash with most AFL bookmakers, with the top-of-the-table Power priced at $2 after being dismantled by the Brisbane Lions last round.

The Giants meanwhile are gathering some momentum after successive wins over Collingwood and Hawthorn, and will be further boosted by the return of skipper Callan Ward. The Giants have also included Jye Caldwell, Sam Jacobs and Zac Langdon in their extended squad.

The Power have stunned by announcing ball magnet Tom Rockliff has been dropped, with Cam Sutcliffe, Peter Ladhams, Ryan Burton and Sam Mayes in their extended squad.

Rockliff was magnificent last time these two teams met with 31 possessions in a losing team. His teammate Travis Boak racked up 40 in the same game, with the prolific midfielder enjoying the freedom of star giants tagger Matt De Boer missing through injury.

We expect De Boer to go straight to Boak in the centre square this time around, which means don’t bank on Boak leading the possession count for the Power.

The Power v Giants odds are justifiably close with both these teams seeing plenty of love in premiership betting, with the Giants a $6 favourite to win the flag, while the Power are paying $11.

The Giants, last season’s beaten grand finalist, still have plenty of talent to come back into the line-up with Tim Taranto and Zac Williams both due back in the coming weeks.

Port Power v GWS Giants tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds for some value and found several value Port Power v GWS tips for Sunday’s game.

Jeremy Cameron to kick 3 or more goals

The Giants star forward Jeremy Cameron has had a relatively slow start to the 2020 season, but the athletic key position player began to look more like his pack-busting self against the Hawks. Cameron with nine goals still sits close to the Coleman Medal leader and Sunday’s opponent Charlie Dixon (11 goals), with the shootout set to play a big role in determining the winning team. Cameron is paying $3.75 with Unibet Australia to kick more than three goals – great value in our opinion – in a match that will be played in dry conditions.

Robbie Gray to get 20 touches

Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray is paying around the $6 mark to get 20 touches against GWS, and with Tom Rockliff being dropped we can see him spending more time through the midfield. Other players who might benefit from more midfield minutes in this clash include Connor Rozee, Ollie Wines, who is still working ,back to full fitness and Sam Powell-Pepper, with all three worth looking at in regards to the possessions market. Work out will who will pick up Rockliff’s workload and you might find yourself a nice windfall. For us we think it will be the tried and tested Gray.

Port Adelaide v GWS prediction 12/7/20

In what is shaping as perhaps the match of round 6, the Giants look to have a little bit too much class through the midfield for the Power, although results in 2020 have us gun shy in predicting a Port Adelaide v GWS winner. While we’re leaning towards the Giants in this encounter, we will be sticking to the player betting markets for our own investments. Our final Port Adelaide v GWS prediction? GWS by 11 points.
