Pragmatic Play releases Korean-inspired Seotda Baccarat
Pragmatic Play has expanded its live casino portfolio with the launch of Seotda Baccarat, a Korean-inspired variant that blends traditional baccarat gameplay with elements of the Hwatu-based Seotda card game.
The release marks another push by the supplier to diversify its live casino offering through culturally themed table games, following the rollout of Gates of Olympus Roulette earlier this year.
Unlike conventional baccarat, Seotda Baccarat uses a 20-card Hwatu deck, with cards representing months from January to October and carrying individual point values. The game removes baccarat’s standard third-card draw mechanic, instead focusing on which side — player or banker — receives the strongest two-card hand.
The title also introduces three special “Bright” cards, which act as premium-value cards tied to side bet functionality and increased payout potential.
Pragmatic Play said the game was designed to combine familiar baccarat betting structures with traditional Korean gaming influences in an attempt to deliver a faster and more visually distinctive live casino experience.
Pragmatic Play’s Director of Public Relations Sharon McHugh said the new release had the potential to liven up online casino lobbies,
“Seotda Baccarat brings together two popular card games in a way that feels fresh and authentic,” she said.
“By combining the vibrant Hwatu deck with familiar baccarat betting mechanics, this release gives casinos a first-of-its-kind live casino experience designed to elevate their live lobbies. And, by the way, it’s pronounced soo-da!”
The Seotda Baccarat launch comes as iGaming developers increasingly develop regionally themed live dealer products aimed at differentiating themselves in the rapidly expanding online casino sector, particularly across Asian-facing regulated and grey markets.
