The losers of this clash are done for the 2020 season, while the winners will move on to play Geelong in the second week of the finals.

The Eagles and Magpies have serious recent history, including their epic 2018 grand final clash won by the Eagles by just five points.

West Coast have won five out of the past six clashes between these teams and when they met earlier this season at Optus Oval, key forward Josh Kennedy had a field day with seven goals as the Eagles romped in by 66 points.

So the Magpies have the odds stacked against them as they have left the south-east Queensland hub to travel to Perth to face the local heroes. They are heavy underdogs in betting, with leading bookmaker PlayUp rating the Eagles as $1.42 against the Magpies at $2.85. The $1.90 handicap line has been set at 13.5 points.

West Coast have regained some big names for this match, including star midfielders Luke Shuey and Jack Redden, crafty forward Jamie Cripps and defensive general Jeremy McGovern. Shuey and McGovern are returning after hamstring injuries.

The Eagles players to make way for that impressive quartet are Josh Rotham, who is injured, and omitted trio Bailey Williams, Luke Foley and Will Schofield.

Collingwood have surprised many at the selection table by including big man Darcy Cameron and vetera Chris Mayne, who has recovered from a broken jaw. Speedy pair Travis Varcoe and Tyler Brown have been dropped, and the Pies have somewhat of a pedestrian look heading into this do-or-die clash.
