Pragmatic Play enters Alberta’s newly regulated gambling market
Pragmatic Play has become one of the latest suppliers to enter Alberta’s newly regulated online gambling market, launching its certified casino portfolio just days after the province officially opened the doors to private operators.
The content provider announced that its online slots and live casino products are now certified for the Alberta market, marking another step in its North American expansion strategy and strengthening its presence in Canada following its established operations in neighbouring Ontario.
Players in Alberta will gain access to Pragmatic Play’s slot portfolio, including recent releases Fury of Anubis and Big Bass Blast, alongside the popular Gates of Olympus series. The certification also covers the supplier’s live casino offering, featuring blackjack, baccarat, roulette and game show titles.

The launch comes as Alberta becomes only the second Canadian province, after Ontario, to establish a competitive regulated iGaming market for private operators.
The new framework officially went live on July 13, allowing licensed online casino and sportsbook operators to begin accepting players after completing registration with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) and entering commercial agreements with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). The model closely mirrors Ontario’s regulated market, where private operators compete alongside the government-run platform under provincial oversight.
Dozens of operators and suppliers have already registered to participate, although not every approved brand launched on day one, with additional operators expected to go live over the coming weeks as commercial agreements and compliance requirements are completed.
For Pragmatic Play, the Alberta launch builds on an already established Canadian footprint, with the supplier having previously partnered with a number of tier-one operators in Ontario to distribute its games.
The company said the move reinforces its commitment to regulated markets across North America, where it continues to deliver its slots, live casino and other products through a single API integration.
“Alberta represents an exciting new adventure for regulated iGaming in Canada, and Pragmatic Play is delighted to be among the first suppliers bringing premium entertainment to operators and their players from day one,” Director of PR at Pragmatic Play Sharon McHugh said.
“Building on our strong momentum in Ontario, this expansion reinforces Pragmatic Play’s long-term commitment to the Canadian market. We look forward to working closely with partners across the province as the market continues to develop.”
Alberta’s market launch is widely regarded as one of the industry’s most significant developments of 2026, with the province aiming to channel players away from offshore websites by offering a competitive, regulated marketplace featuring licensed private operators under local oversight.
