AFL round 7 odds and fixture update

Round 7 of the AFL on Thursday night features big guns Geelong and Collingwood as the first match at Optus Stadium in Perth since the restart.

The Cats are coming off an upset win against the Brisbane Lions, while Collingwood got their season back in order with a commanding win against the disappointing Hawthorn last Friday night.

Bookmakers have installed the Magpies as around $1.73 favourites against the Cats ($2.10) in a match that could easily be considered the best of the round.

GWS ($1.73) host the Brisbane Lions ($2.10) at Giants Stadium on Saturday afternoon in another high-stakes contest between two serious flag contenders, while Carlton get the chance to measure their improvement in 2020 when they play top team Port Adelaide at Gabba in the early match on Sunday.

There are of course no matches in Victoria in Round 7 of the AFL, but there are two in Western Australia including the Collingwood-Geelong clash and the Sunday evening derby between West Coast and Fremantle.

Football also returns to South Australia on Monday night when the Adelaide Crows, the only team without a win after six rounds, host St Kilda.

AFL 2020 premiership betting update

The AFL Premiership market for 2020 has once again had a rapid shake-up, with West Coast the big movers near the top of betting with Unibet.

The Eagles have firmed from $11 into $7, to be equal favourites for the flag with GWS Giants and Collingwood.

Port Adelaide also were headed north, from $9.5 into $7.5, while Brisbane eased dramatically from $6.5 to $9 after falling to the Cats, who were $12 into $10.

Elsewhere, the Hawks were $16 to $31 after they turned in an insipid display at Giants Stadium against Collingwood, while the Blues’ premiership odds were slashed from $81 to $41 after they pulverised the Western Bulldogs by 52 points on Sunday.
