Essendon, who have a game in hand, were walloped by the Brisbane Lions before their good fighting effort against the Giants. They need to make a stand here or risk mid-table mediocrity this season.

The Bombers have a long injury list and unfortunately many of those injuries have come to their goal-scorers such as Jake Stringer, Joe Daniher and Orazio Fantasia. Their challenge will be kicking a winning score.
