Adelaide v Collingwood betting tips, prediction & odds; AFL Rd 11 Preview

Welcome to our Adelaide v Collingwood betting tips, predictions and odds update for their AFL Round 11 clash being played at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night.

Collingwood are the hot favourites in the betting, but have made wholesale changes for the clash, with injuries and the packed schedule forcing their hand. The Magpies are coming off a narrow victory over Sydney, that was sealed by a memorable Josh Daicos snap from the boundary in the dying minutes.

Battling Adelaide are yet to record a win in 2020 and are coming off a 51-point shellacking at the hands of Melbourne. This performance was their worst for the year, with their second-half capitulation compounded by several more injuries.

Both Collingwood and Adelaide are sorely out of form, but leading bookmaker Unibet has priced the Magpies at $1.31 with the Crows’ odds as long as $3.60 late on Monday. The $1.90 line has been set at 17.5 points.

The injury hit Magpies suffered a further blow against the Swans with star midfielder Adam Treloar injuring a hamstring, which further weakens a midfield missing Scott Pendlebury. Jamie Elliott (ear), Isaac Quaynor (leg) and Will Hoskin-Elliott (knee) also joined the injury list. Darcy Moore and Ben Reid have been managed.

Injury-plagued Magpies Lynden Dunn and Tim Broomhead have been included for their first games in more than two years. On top of this, veteran pair Chris Mayne and Travis Varcoe, Darcy Cameron and Rupert Wills have been called up.

The Crows have made five changes, including leaving out Daniel Talia, who has been managed. Lachlan Murphy has been suspended, while Will Hamill will miss after a big hit early against the Demons. Jake Kelly and Chayce Jones have been dropped.

Andrew McPherson, Brodie Smith, Kyle Hartigan, Shane McAdam and Tyson Stengle have been included. The clash will mark the 150th AFL appearance of Crows forward Tom Lynch.

Adelaide v Collingwood tips

Our AFL betting guru has scoured the odds for some value and found several value Crows v Magpies tips for Tuesday’s game.

Brody Mihocek to kick 3+ goals

The Magpies’ workhorse forward has been quiet in recent games, but we think he will relish having no Daniel Talia deep, with just the undersized Kyle Hartigan and Tom Doedee to contend with. Plus he will get more support in the air from the recalled Cameron and Brodie Grundy. Mihocek is probably the Magpies’ best kick at goal and can get maximum results from minimum possessions. He is paying $4.50 to kick 3+ with Unibet. Consider downgrading this to 2+ goals closer to the start of the game if it is wet.

Adelaide +17.5 points at $1.90

If there is one thing the Magpies are in 2020, it is dour, with the majority of their wins coming in ugly slogs after blistering starts. We expect more of the same against the Crows and the +17.5 line looks to be generous enough. Take this bet at Unibet at $1.90

Jack Crisp to get 20+ disposals

Collingwood have deployed Jack Crisp through the midfield in recent weeks, as the injury list grows, and he has found plenty of the ball. He will be given even more midfield minutes in this clash in Treloar’s absence and the $2 up for grabs for him to gather 20 touches looks a lock. Another player who could benefit from Treloar’s absence is Brayden Sier, who gathered 23 touches last week and is paying $4.50 to get 25+ against the Crows.

Adelaide Crows v Collingwood Magpies prediction 11/8/2020

We are predicting this clash to be a low-scoring slog, typical of both these teams in recent times. We have little faith the Crows could cause an upset, while we just can’t see the Magpies blowing them away. Both teams have plenty to play for, with the Crows’ odds of a winless season shortening every week, while the Magpies need to keep winning to make the finals. With very little value in the head to head odds we won’t be betting on the outcome of this game. Instead look to the player markets and line betting. Our final Adelaide v Collingwood prediction? Magpies by 11 points.

Good call on Crisp at 20+ disposals – that’s bank interest considering the time he’ll spend around the ball.

Shocked and appalled you don’t have Ben Crocker to kick a goal against his old side, paying $2+.
