NRL round 10: Manly v Brisbane Broncos Magic Round

Welcome to our Manly Warringah v Brisbane Broncos match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, on Friday, May 14.

This is the second match of a double-header to kick off the NRL’s Magic Round, where all eight matches will be played at Suncorp Stadium, with three matches on Saturday and three more crackers on Sunday. Magic!

In the earlier match on Friday, we give the Wests Tigers a good chance of causing an upset against Newcastle Knights, who themselves caused a surprise last weekend against ailing Canberra.

We are focusing though on the Sea Eagles-Broncos match, and home fans can draw some comfort from the fact they have won four of their past six matches against the Sea Eagles.

In their only meeting in 2020, Manly won 20-18 in round five at Central Coast Stadium, with the Sea Eagles scoring 16 points to nile in the second half to win after trailing 4-18 at the break.

Manly have won four of their past five matches to be back in the finals mix, powered by the return of Turbo Tom Trbejovic while the Broncos came within an ace of making it two straight wins last week before losing 19-18 to great rivals the Cowboys in Townsville.

Sea Eagles v Broncos team news for round 10

The Sea Eagles have named veteran big-hitter Martin Taupau at prop after a week off with a head knock but have some doubt over another prop in Taniela Paseka, who must pass HIA protocols before being cleared to play.

Jorge Taufua drops out of the 17 with the return of Taupau.

The Broncos just can’t take a trick and have lost workhorse back-rower Patrick Carrigan for the season after he ruptured his ACL in the loss to the Cowboys. Thomas Flegler comes into the starting side for Carrigan, while ball-playing prop John Asiata joins the bench.

Sea Eagles v Broncos free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted free Manly-Brisbane tips for Friday night’s game.

Broncos +8.5 points/match total over 44.5 points

The Broncos have been much improved and we think this match could turn into a bit of a shootout in dry conditions in Brisbane. The Broncos are not renowned for their defensive intensity and the Sea Eagles also leak 26 points per game on average this season.

Anthony Milford to score a try at $4.90

Milford has yet to get across the line in seven appearances this season but he has always been a renowned try scorer. His confidence is up after a couple of decent displays and he should be heavily involved in this contest.

Manly Sea Eagles v Brisbane Broncos prediction 14-5-2021

The Broncos have been brave the past few weeks and were just starting to get to somewhere near top form when they suffered a double blow, with the injury to Carrigan and winger Xavier Coates announcing he will leave to join the Storm after this season. They have the advantage of playing this “away” match on theur home turf and that gives them some sort of chance but in the end there might be more heartbreak for Kevin Walters and his team. Our Sea Eagles v Broncos prediction: Manly to win by 4 points.
