NRL round 11: Raiders v Storm betting tips

This Parramatta-Canberra clash at Bankwest Stadium is the pick of a trio of Saturday matches and has taken on great importance for the Raiders.

Ricky Stuart’s Raiders returned from the COVID-19-enforced hiatus with a blaze of glory with an away win over Melbourne but have been uninspired since. A 16-point loss to the Knights, a come-from-behind-win over the Wests Tigers and a disappointing 14-6 loss last week against the undermanned Manly Warringah have the Raiders in danger of falling away.

More worrying for the side that many considered unlucky not to win last year’s grand final, their attack has dried up, with just 38 points in total in their past three outings. They need to find a spark fast.

The table-topping Eels suffered their first loss of the season last weekend against the two-time defending premiers Sydney Roosters. They lost no admirers though and are a big, strong team with few apparent weaknesses.

Workhorse Eels lock Nathan Brown copped a two-match suspension at the judiciary on Tuesday night, and will be replaced in the starting line-up by Marata Niukore.

Stuart has stuck with the same starting line-up that struggled in attack last week against the gallant Sea Eagles.

The earlier matches on Saturday are the North Queensland Cowboys v the Newcastle Knights at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville from 3pm, and Brisbane Broncos v Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, at 5.30pm.

Eels v Raiders free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for the Parramatta v Canberra clash.

Canberra +3.5 points/match total over 35.5 points

The Raiders are too good a team not to be able to bounce back. The coach will have read the riot act to the players this week, so expected the Raiders to come out inspired in this big match. No knock on Parra; we expected a thriller here and the Raiders offer the better value as outsiders in this match.

Michael Jennings to score a try for Parramatta

Jenning has wound back the clock somewhat this season and has crossed three times already. He really is looking close to his powerful best. This option is for him to score a try at any time in the match.

Parramatta Eels v Canberra Raiders prediction

Two serious teams in a big match in the Saturday night timeslot. We can’t wait for this one and especially to see how the Raiders react. They were awful in attack last week with far too many handling errors. Parramatta triumphed 22-16 when these teams last met almost exactly a year ago and we expected a similar tight clash here. Raiders by four points. Good punting.
