NRL Sunday: Raiders v Knights, predictions & odds, round 4, 2020

The Canberra Raiders face Newcastle in Sydney on Sunday, with both teams remaining undefeated through the first three rounds.

Our NRL tipster is only just cooling down after Thursday night’s result, and he is offering some serious value in his Raiders v Knights tips.

These two teams sit in second and third positions on the table heading into NRL round 4, with Canberra in particular shaping as one of the teams to beat this season.

The Raiders were ultra-impressive in their first match back after the COVID-19-forced break, putting the clamps on the heavyweight Storm 22-6 on their home turf in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, the Knights were seemingly beaten in their match with Penrith, down 14-0 and with halfback Mitchell Pearce knocked out and rake Connor Watson off injured. But they courageously fought back to secure a 14-14 draw.

The Knights may still be without Pearce for this clash even though he was named in the team. Former Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough comes in for Watson for his first game as a Knight.

The effort expended against the Panthers may well tell late against the Raiders, though they have been boosted by the return of dynamic fullback Kalyn Ponga.

Raiders v Knights is clearly the match of the day, with the second match being played on Sunday, June 7, the Gold Coast Titans v Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane at 6.30pm local time.

Raiders v Knights free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for the Raiders v Knights clash.

Knights/Raiders half-time/full-time double at $7

You can secure $7 with leading bookmaker Unibet about the Knights leading at half-time and the Raiders winning overall and we think it’s value given the enormous toll last Sunday’s draw may have taken on the youngish Knights. They can certainly score points though so we can’t see any reason they won’t storm out of the blocks and lead at half-time.

Match total under 40.5 points

Shop around for this one but both teams have shown solid defence, particularly the Raiders, who has conceded exactly six points in each of their three matches so far this season.

Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights prediction

This should be a great contest as the Raiders seek to continue a season in which they are desperately trying to put behind them the heartbreak of finishing runners-up last season. Throw in a young and exciting Knights team and you have yourself a serious contest. Our Raiders v Knights prediction? Canberra just a little too experienced and strong overall. Good punting.
