NRL Sunday: Raiders v Warriors betting tips, prediction & odds, round 19, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

Welcome to our Canberra Raiders v New Zealand Warriors match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at GIO Stadium on Sunday, September 20.

This is the pick of the two NRL matches on Sunday, with the later match pitting the Newcastle Knights against the St George Illawarra Dragons at McDonald Jones Stadium from 4.05pm.

Ricky Stuart’s Raiders famously lost the grand final to the Roosters last season and are scrambling to try to get back into the title race this time. They need to keep winning and hope top-four rivals Parramatta stumble in their final regular-season match against .

The Warriors’ brave season is drawing to a close. The Kiwi team has won plenty of friends with its entertaining performances this season under great hardships.

Canberra have won six of their past nine matches between these teams but interestingly the Warriors won in Canberra in 2018 and again in 2019. They were both close games but they at least show the venue holds few fears for the travelling NZ side.

The Warriors have been highly competitive against top-eight side Parramatta and Cronulla in the past two weeks and they should give a good account of themselves again.

The Warriors have lost loan players Daniel Alvaro and George Jennings, while prop Jamayne Taunoa-Brown. Into the starting team come Adam Keighran at centre and Hayze Perham on the wing. Tom Ale was named to make his debut off the bench.

The Raiders are likely to head into the match with close to the same team that beat the Dragons last weekend. Tough prop Iosia Soliola was named in the reserves to return after a facial injury but coach Ricky Stuart says Soliola will return in the last round.

Raiders v Warriors free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Canberra-NZ Warriors betting tips for Sunday’s game.

Raiders -15.5/match total over 41.5

Despite the forecast wet weather we expect this clash to be reasonably free flowing. Check the weather closer to kick-off and adjust accordingly, but we think the Warriors will be little deflated after bowing out of the finals race. The Raiders are a professional unit and have rediscovered some attacking flair.

Jack Wighton to score 2+ tries

The Raiders five-eighth has carried a big load for his team this year and is always a handful for the opposition. We suspect there’s a big game in the hard-running pivot with the finals and Origin looming.

Canberra Raiders v NZ Warriors prediction 20-9-2020

It’s hard not to be impressed by how Canberra have bounced back from a hefty injuty toll and other travails this season. We are not sure if they can get a top-four spot, which would make them much more dangerous come finals time. But wherever they end up you know they will be fighting hard. The Warriors have been an entertaining team to watch so this all round is a game to look forward too. The Raiders just have a bit too much motivation in this one. Our Raiders v Warriors prediction: Canberra by 20 points.
