NRL Sunday: Sea Eagles v Sharks, predictions & odds, round 7, 2020

NRL round 13: Dragons v Broncos

This Manly-Cronulla clash at Central Coast Stadium is the NRL match of the day on Sunday and will be a massive test of the Sea Eagles’ depth.

Manly were fantastic last week in holding off Canberra 14-6 after losing budding superstar Tom Trbojevic to a hamstring injury and Dylan Walker (foot), among a litany of other injury concerns.

Their lesser lights really stood up against the Raiders  and the team has shown tremendous resilience all season and is unlucky not to be sitting higher than seventh on the table.

Their great rivals the Sharks are sitting in 11th and need a win here to revive their season, though Manly have won 11 of the past 12 meetings between these teams.

Cronulla scraped past the Bulldogs last weekend 20-18 and have included Andrew Fifita in the starting side, in place of Braden Hamlin-Uele.

Manly have reshuffled the decks, with Brendan Elliot replacing Trbojevic at fullback, Lachlan Croker named at five-eighth, Jorge Taufua back on the wing and powerful prop Martin Taupau returning after injury. Young back-line player Cade Cust joins the interchange.

The later match on Sunday is the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs v Wests Tigers scheduled for Bankwest Stadium at 6.30pm.

Sea Eagles v Sharks free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for the Manly v Cronulla clash.

Cronulla +3.5 points/match total over 39.5 points double

The Sharks have named a strong team and should be travelling a little better than they are. We don’t think they are title contenders but see them as an 8-12 team. Coming up against a battered and bruised Manly, this is their chance to shine against a team the Sharks have always struggled against. We rate Manly a potential top-four side but the injuries have got to take a toll.

Wade Graham to score a try

The Cronulla captain is not a prolific try-scorer but will be front and centre in much of the action in this match. He has crossed twice in six matches this season which indicates he is playing more of a hand in attack than normal. Such a clever player when on song.

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles v Cronulla Sharks prediction

As mentioned we rate the Sea Eagles more highly than the Sharks, but they look ripe for the picking with a few top-shelf players sidelined plus coming off a brutal battle against the Raiders. We are taking a leap of faith on the Sharks turning things around, but they should enjoy going in as underdogs. Cronulla to win by 6 points in a boilover.
