The Sharks have struck some great form in the past month, winning six of their past seven matches to storm to seventh on the NRL table. To be fair, they have had a good recent fixture and when they did come up against a top-notch side in Penrith, they were hammered 56-24.

That’s the problem facing Cronulla coach John Morris; the Sharks can score with ease and play some dazzling football, but they are among the worst offenders in missing tackles.

No such defensive worries for Parramatta, who sit in third place on the table with 10 wins and two losses and boast statistically the best defence in the NRL.

The Eels have been installed a $1.40 favourite in the betting, while the Sharks ($2.95) are not finding much love with punters. The $1.90 line has been set at 6.5.

The Sharks regain an important trio of players from hamstring injuries for this clash, including veteran back Josh Dugan, who is playing his 200th first-grade game. Fellow centre Jesse Ramien is also back, along with five-eighth Matt Moylan.

Parramatta have made just one change from last round, with Ray Stone replacing Brad Takairangi on the pine.
