The Broncos have won their past four matches against the Panthers but you would be hard-pressed to find even the most diehard Broncos fans tipping them to win this match.
It has been the season from hell for glamour club Brisbane, who parted company with coach Anthony Seibold last week and are in grave danger of landing the dreaded wooden spoon.
Meanwhile, their opponents, ladder leaders Penrith, have barely out a foot wrong and have won 14 of their 16 matches with one loss and one draw. They have won their past 11 matches in succession.

The Panthers have regained powerhouse second-rower Viliame Kikau from suspension for the trip north, though they lose back-rower Isaah Yeo (head knock) to injury. Clever hooker Api Koroisau (calf) is a chance to return.
The Broncos selectors have dropped halfback Brodie Croft and they have lost Joe Ofahengaue but they do regain several big names after injury and suspension. Young prop Payne Haas, veteran hooker Issac Luke and giant winger Corey Oates are all back, and hopefully they can help they can help shore up the worst defence in the league.

This double is paying $1.98 with leading bookie Unibet. We would like to be able to say Penrith will also cover the line, but on paper the Broncos look OK and should not be humiliated. So we will go the conservative play and back the Panthers to win in a high-scoring affair.
Stephen Crichton to score 2+ tries
The Panthers’ brilliant young centre has scored 14 tries in 16 matches this season and should get plenty of chances against the Broncos, who have conceded more tries than any other team in the NRL this season. Crichton is in a four-way tie at the top of the NRL try-scorers list.

The end of the season can’t come quickly enough for the Broncos. They returned from the Covid-19 break seemingly in good shape but things quickly spiralled out of control. They should be able to approach this match without too much pressure so we expect them to play some football without too many inhibitions. That and the perfect Brisbane weather is why we expect a free-scoring contest. Our Broncos v Panthers prediction: Penrith by 16 points.
