AFL round 12 odds 2021 - covid fixture update

Welcome to our St Kilda v Geelong betting tips, prediction and odds update for their AFL Round 11 clash at the Gabba on Monday evening.

The Saints are one of the big improvers this season, while the Cats just keep on keeping on and are again right in the mix for a top-four finish.

St Kilda have a poor record against Geelong lately and this match should provide a great litmus test.

The Saints have won just one of their past 10 matches against Geelong, and that was at Marvel Stadium in 2016, with one draw and eight losses. Those eight losses have been by an average of around 46 points.

The Cats beat North Melbourne by 33 points in their most recent match last Wednesday, while St Kilda just got over the line last Thursday against the Gold Coast.

Geelong also have one eye on their round 12 match-up against ladder leaders Port Adelaide this Friday night at the Gold Coast.

The good news for coach Chris Scott is that Geelong has possibly the healthiest list in the AFL, with the only long-term concern over Gary Ablett (personal reasons). They could regain up to five players for this match including Brandan Parfitt, Esava Ratugolea, Jake Kolodjashnij, Gary Rohan and Jordan Clark, who has made a swift recover from a dislocated shoulder.

The Saints’ next match is against Essendon at the Gabba on Sunday, August 16. Their list is in a fairly healthy place although Dan Hannebery (hamstring) seems unlikely to make it back this season.

St Kilda Saints v Geelong Cats tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Saints v Cats tips for Monday’s game.

St Kilda +9.5 points/match total over 130.5 points

This double is available at around $3.50 with top Aussie bookmaker PlayUp. With clear conditions forecast this should be a free-flowing affair. The Saints are in rare form with four wins on end, including a stunning performance against Port Adelaide, and this is their chance to get one back on the Cats, who have tormented them for years.

Max King to kick 3+ goals

The big forward should get conditions to suit at the Gabba and King has shown in his brief career that he can take a big grab, is quick across the ground and is a good set shot. We expect him to get enough chances to boot three goals at least.

St Kilda v Geelong prediction 10/8/2020

We have no knock on Geelong at all; they are a rock-solid team and are again looming as a real threat. But they may struggle with the pace and dare of the 2020 Saints on a fast track at the Gabba. The Saints’ recruit have worked out beautifully and their forward line is functioning so well, with Richmond discard Dan Butler adding some serious pace. We may be getting carried away with the Saints but we are on the bandwagon while their form is running hot. Our final St Kilda v Geelong prediction? Saints by 14 points.
