Melbourne will be attempting to square the win-loss ledger at 5-5 after 10 games, safe in the knowledge they have a game in hand after their clash against Essendon was postponed due to a COVID-19 incident.
The Kangaroos arelooking to notch up their fourth win of the 2020 season. Last start, the Roos succumbed to Geelong by 33 points, in a hard-fought contest which was made harder to swallow by an injury to forward Ben Brown.
With the packed COVID-19 AFL schedule beginning to take its toll on teams, it’s worth noting both teams last played on Wednesday night. This gives both teams a four day rest, meaing it should have little impact on the result.
Unibet Australia has installed the Demons $1.54 favourite in the betting, with the injury-hit Roos priced at $2.50 to win. The $1.90 line has been set at 10.5 which feels about right for these two teams.

There is little relief on the injury front for the Roos this round, with Brown and fellow forward Nick Larkey joining the likes of Ben Cunnington and Jack Ziebell on the sidelines.
Melbourne has one of the healthiest lists to choose from with only Kozzy Pickett and potentially Kade Kolodjashnij unavailable from their best line-up. The Dees will be wary of skipper Max Gawn backing up again off a short break, with the big man seemingly struggling with a leg ailment at times against the Crows.

We are taking Melbourne to win and the total score to be under 125.5, even though it is expected to be dry in Adelaide on Sunday. We expect the Roos to come out hard and turn the game into a scrap, which was has been a common theme in their games. Both teams struggle for connection with their forward line through the midfield, although there was some improvement in the Demons output last round, albeit against the dismal Crows. Cameron Zurhaar to kick 2+ goals
The Roos youngster is their leading goalkicker and has been a rare shining light. At just 22 years of age, Zurhaar is coming into his prime and will have to take on a lot of responsibility for the rest of the year with Brown out indefinitely. We’re going to steer clear of the Roos big guys in this market, with Demon key defenders Steven May and Jake Lever beginning to show some strong form, which leaves Zurhaar as the Roos main man. He is paying $3.20 with PlayUp to kick 2+ goals — a price we will be jumping on.
Melbourne v North Melbourne prediction 9/8/2020
Melbourne has one of the fittest lists in the AFL which is going to become more and more important over the next month. This has us thinking they should easily account for the injury-hit Roos. The Demons forward line has looked much better over the past month with Sam Weidemann taking on the no.1 role from Tom McDonald. Surely Simon Goodwin will consider sending McDonald, who cut his teeth as a defender, into the backline to take one of the Roos big key forwards and free up Lever to play his more natural intercept game.
